Good Central Location Shower did not work, hot water only. Dirty Shower. Very warm room. Very noisy inside and outside hotel

The hotel was centrally located and an easy walk to the train station. Based on the reviews, I expected noise from the location and knew there would be stairs, so neither of those things bothered us. We’re pretty flexible travelers. What I didn’t expect was the condition of Room 17, where we stayed the first night. The room had a strong sewage smell coming from the shower drain that made the room unpleasant to be in. I asked to move rooms, but there were no other rooms available that night. To his credit, the man at reception was apologetic, poured bleach down the drain, and brought us Febreze, which helped mask the smell. The bathroom also had a significant amount of visible mold in the shower. In addition, the room itself was extremely small — so small that when I rolled over in bed, I worried about bumping the blinds and exposing the room to the street outside. I contacted Booking.com hoping to relocate for the second night, but because they couldn’t get a response from the hotel, we ended up staying and moving to a different room instead of paying for another hotel ourselves. Honestly, the main reason we stayed was because I didn’t want to waste valuable travel time fighting for a refund and scrambling to find another place at the last minute. The second room was somewhat better and at least included a kettle and hair dryer, which the first room did not. Still, considering the experience, I really feel the hotel should have offered some kind of discount or compensation for the second night, but that never happened. If this had been a true budget hotel, I might have adjusted my expectations. But at around £80 per night, it felt poor value for the condition of the first room. Especially considering we had stayed the previous night at a hotel in Manchester for less money, and the difference in cleanliness, comfort, and overall quality was dramatic.

My room was very small, not much space to put your clothes on. I also missed a small desk or something similar for eating. And not being able to open the window was something I also missed. But these are minor things considering the excellent price and location and I knew what to expect for this price.

Reception was pleasant , very helpful when we enquired on information of the city center buses and trains. We appreciated the baggage storage on the day of check out allowing us to continue our tours with baggage collection later in the day. There was no Wifi connection in the room. The basin in the bathroom was so small that there is barely space to wash hands let alone brush your teeth. The mattress was worn out , the carpet leading to the rooms appeared uncleaned as if they were not washed for a long period of time. Rooms are located upstairs from a pub thus the noise and loud music is not ideal for rest time at night. Definitely wont be staying here again.

Didn't know if window properly closed as felt wind on colder nights. Not sure if any housekeeping was offered. No shampoo in shower, only shower gel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the bed was very comfortable. Although the room is compact, I think it would benefit from having a small bedside table, or shelf, ideally at both sides - or at least on one.

The bathroom smelled moldy. Our key card stopped working. The desk lady said she was filling in for someone and that she couldn't make a new card. We went out and when w ecsme back had a long wait to get in. They said the person coming after her shift could make us a new card at 8. I never got a new card so we couldn't go out to do anything our last night.

Good location, near Lime Street station. I was able to store luggage free before 3 PM check-in as well as after checking out. Room was clean, wi-fi worked well. Front desk seems hit-or-miss. I had to wait 15 minutes for someone to come to the desk for check-in. But otherwise they were friendly. Room was *VERY* small. Could not even lay my suitcase flat on the floor. The bathroom may have had more square footage!

Location was ok for us as it was close to a cheap car park and we wanted to be near to the university. The rooms looked great in photos but were filthy in person. I wish we’d checked reviews before booking. Even at £50 a night, I’d be let down, but £160 is absurd.

    - There was only one pillow on the bed making for an uncomfortable sleep...eventually I had to stuff the towel underneath - The only way of filling the kettle that I could see was by using the bathroom tap, which was extremely difficult (try it yourself) - There was only one loo roll, which isn't very helpful for those who have productive metabolisms - The TV remote was very sluggish and slow to respond, making it difficult to use - This is a harder one to solve, but the toilet was really crammed in to a small space in the tiling

excellent location. extremely friendly and accommodating staff. quiet and peaceful room. easy automated access. only if the bedsheet/quilt/pillow covers could be offered cleaner/direct out of wash, and not contain traces of already being used. they changed the bedsheet after 3 days upon my request but it did not also seem unused.
