It was so adorable. Very clean, very welcoming, every detail was perfect! The breakfast was to die for. How are more people not talking about this?? A fresh breakfast made by the owner and chef with local sourced food. So good!

After a gruff taxi ride from the airport b/c our luggage took too long to come off the plane, we had a welcomed surprise arriving at April 1550 with a warm greeting and attentive staff serving us wonderful coffees in the courtyard soon after! That they were also flexible enough to honor a late room request added to our relief that our stay in Ljubljana and April 1550 specifically was well chosen and as advertised! The beds were comfortable and the breakfast buffet was much more than we expected, just lovely. The location was convenient and the restaurant suggestion for nearby pizza was excellent! Going above and beyond Natasa reached out to us quickly when they found I had forgotten something in the room and we were able to circle back to retrieve it and have another lovely conversation with her. We can't say enough good things about our stay and will refer all friends and family :-) That we couldn't stay another night!

I have stayed in the full range of accommodations, from campgrounds at national parks, to indigenous eco lodges in Thailand, to your standard large hotel chains, to ultra-premium, ultra-luxury resorts consistently ranked among the world’s best. April 1550 went directly to top of my list for accommodation experiences. It eclipsed all other experiences! Over our five-night stay, the owner, Nataša, was there daily. She checked in on us in unobtrusive ways, provided (what I consider to be) extra services to us without our asking, and was happy to tell us about the local city and culture when we asked. The remaining staff members were also exceptional. The property is stunning and one-of-a-kind (8 or so total rooms). Breakfast is absolutely Do-Not-Miss! They use all local and seasonal ingredients, offer a wide range of options, and offer at least two (one savory and one sweet) traditional dishes each morning (none repeated during our stay). Everything about this property was perfect – even down to the hairdryer. [I have never stayed anywhere that offered a high-quality hair dryer and have always just accepted that as a fact of life. It is not a fact of life here!] April 1550 set a brand-new standard of excellence for us. We cannot imagine being satisfied with anything else in the future. We will return to April 1550 and Ljubljana!

I cannot say enough about this sweet, charming, amazing hotel. If you are going to Ljubljana - stay here. Amenities, staff, location, breakfast (do NOT miss breakfast!)... literally everything.

Beautifully designed hotel. Perfectly refined taste and style. I loved the design books. They bent over backwards for us due to early flights and a misplaced passport. Nothing to not like.

The location is very convenient. Right at the foothill of the castle in the quiet corner of the old town center. It is a lovely homey space. The staff is excellent and always there to help. I really appreciate their eco-friendly approaches. I had a to-go breakfast that’s are well prepared without any plastic waste. Fantastic stay!

The staff at April 1550 were incredibly kind and welcoming to us during our short stay. They prepared an excellent, detailed guide of local eateries and places to visit (helpfully including days of operation), and we enjoyed their recommendations. When we had an early departure, they lovingly packed us food to go with all of their special touches. The hotel is an ideal location, on a quiet street just a short walk from two main areas with lots of outdoor dining, cafes, shops, and the castle. I really enjoyed the design aesthetics of the property and wish we had scheduled more time to just soak in the beauty and relax in the courtyard. I wish I had more time to relax and enjoy the property, including the on-site breakfast!

Home away from home. All of the beautiful details combined with the perfect location, amazing breakfast, wine in the garden and staff that became family over the 4 days we were there make this a very special place to stay.

Nataša and the April Team are just fantastic; when you arrive it feels like you are arriving to an old friend’s house, the hospitality from everyone on the staff is amazing. The location is perfect just a 5-10 min to the City Center. The breakfast is prepared freshly and perfectly by the chef and its a delicious start to your day, I had a tour one day and was able to get a full breakfast to go which was ready for me just to pickup. I got a room upgrade and the rooms are amazing minimalist, neutral and with natural touches, room was clean and super comfortable. For all that I would definitely stay again at this place!

Nothing. Mobility challenged travelers should know there is no elevator. Historic preservation rules did not allow the owner to install one.
