Room was as expected for a Park Plaza. Breakfast was expensive, but fine. The bathroom smelled very strongly of mould which hit you as soon as you entered the hotel room. Bathroom floor was filthy and there was thick limescale around the shower door. Fridge not checked so had melted ice creams from previous customers. Our biggest issue was that we chose this hotel because it had a pool. It wasn’t clear upon booking that the pool needed to be booked in advance and the only slots left were absolutely full of screaming children. Clearly many of them had over-stayed their slot so it was so full you literally could not swim - even if you could cope with the screaming and being dive-bombed by unsupervised children! On day 2 we booked a 7.45 slot thinking it would be better as no children allowed after 8 pm but it was actually worse. There was no staff supervision so families again over-staying their booking slot. After an argument between the adults about their un-supervised children the staff did come in and ask the children to leave… including my 2 mature, respectful teenagers who, like me, were simply there to swim (with it being a SWIMMING pool!)… once they had left, the staff then immediately allowed a family back in with 2 unsupervised kids! Absolutely shocking.
