1 star is not the rate for Colonnade Hotel. Is for hotels.com platform!!! The reason is that I had 3 nights booking for 2 persons (23-26 December). We went to the hotel at Tuesday 23 Dec. around 7pm just to see the hotel CLOSED and a note attached in the main door saying that the company went into administration (insolvency), leading to an immediate closure (1st photo). I booked another hotel nearby, and contacted hotels.com (via website chat) explaining the situation, and ask for refund (as it was in 2nd paragraph in the note). They said that they will contact the hotel (which is closed, and no one will answer!) to check. Finally I received an email from hotels.com saying "After multiple attempts to contact the property on your behalf, we were unable to obtain approval for a waiver. Based on this, the original cancellation policy will apply." which means NO REFUND!!!

Arrived to find the hotel closed, no prior contact or notice given

Behind the hotel is a bar/off-licence called 'Real Drinks', lots of different beverages you can drink in or take away, and a superb pub called 'The Prince Alfred'.

I can’t wait to come back

Breakfast was sparce.

Staff was very welcoming however I was very disappointed with my stay overall. Bathroom was not very clean, hair and gunc in shower. Also no hot water for a shower, when I asked staff I was told to also run the tap in the sink which did then bring through some luke warm water but not acceptable for a shower or for the price paid for stay.

The worst part of the stay was the check-in. It felt more like a customs interrogation in Eastern Europe than a hotel check-in!
-
There wasn't a lot of communication, a bit of false advertisement, and little welcome. And no lift to upper floors, beware light handicaps.

The room was dated, however that is because the place is victorian. The decor some things where like the carpet was frayed in patches and a few places has cracks in the wall and out side front window. Bathroom clean though as well had cracked paint on the front panel. Staff are friendly and helpful.. Overall was good.

The rooms are in horrible state and not to mention antic lift Just nothing right about this place
-
Front desk staff very pleasant and helpful especially on helping us to store our cases on checkout day so we could have a final day in the city without our luggage. Very close to the nearest underground station

Had a great stay here and will definitely return. Plenty of charm in the building and great location. Very impressive staff who took great care and were friendly and helpful
-
Friendly staff, but old and tired hotel. Lots of unfinished fixings, and no hot water (in two stays)

Would seriously not recommend.

Close to a tube statino is the only positive I have for this property.

when I checked out the member of staff tried to charge me for breakfast even though my booking states it is included. when I argued my case he got visibly annoyed and walked off saying "you're done here". i couldn't believe the state of the room, but there was no chance to speak to the staff in the morning after the altercation over double breakfast charge.

Arrived quite late so we were very tired. We were given basement rooms and
