Small rooms and staff that cant speak english

I liked the location and the price. Spacious room. The 2 woman that helped us in the reception, for check in and check out were SO rude and little empathetic. Not even a smile when we arrived. Also they force you to pay the "extras" with cash so they dont have to "book it".

Room was very spacious and comfortable, also the location was great. Common areas Ned to be more clean, they looked poorly maintained and neglected.

Wonderful location, in that it was close to dining, theater, and the Prado Museum Our room was very small and of the 3 possible electrical outlets only 2 were functional. There seemed to be almost no insulation in the shared walls and for our first night, with loud neighbors there were only 3-4 hours when it was quiet enough to sleep. This is not acceptable.

The room was just like the website, people very friendly and helpful. The location excellent walking distance to the downtown area, restaurants around and easy access. The only thing I could say was not good is the connection, signal, internet. Other than that, I was very pleased with Hostal Madrid Start

We liked the locarion, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the room was ok, simple but clean and with the necessary facilities... All was fine, till we went to sleep. We left the door of our balcony open, and till two o'clock AM we could not sleep. Not because the neighbours were specially noisy, no, they just talked. Not shoutes, not cried, not music...Just talked. But the acustic was terrible. We heard not only voices, but practically every word. Finally, we closed the balcony door. It helped, but not much.

Location great , walking distance to Gran Via area. Wifi very poor, white lights in the room , mattress poor quality.

Location is amazing! The room is ok. Clean and ok to stay overnight. Wifi is not good. For someone from abroad, it was the only way to stay connected. So it was critical for me. Walls are thin, so you can hear people talking in the next room. But other than that, the place is nice.

Awful experience, they just want to take your money and from there they don’t care at all for their clients.

Super centric! The room had everything you need (mini fridge, electric kettle, soap) and they offer daily cleaning. Super recommended for short tourist trips. The walls are thin, you can hear other rooms.

We enjoyed the location. Very thin walls, we could hear noises from every direction. Also the door had gaps with light coming in from the hall. We also would've enjoyed more if the door had a physical lock from the inside instead of just trusting employees not to enter with their cards.

The location was fine for the most part. Off a side street from a major area. The frig and kettle were great to have although no coffee or tea supplied. Room was clean. Basic bathroom. Was listed as 24 hour desk but no one there in afternoon or evening. Not made clear in listing that there are several hostals at same address with Star being on second floor. Price too high for facilities.

Excellent location for a short stay in MADRID

Perfect size room with the king size bed and an excellent location that's all I needed. Also no horrible fragrances

The location was very good, with a lot of restaurants around and not very far from a lot of places of interest We were a little scared about the elevator
