Hostal Sol Square Madrid

This place was a 10/10! Very clean and amazing area - close walk to the centre of the city and other tourist attractions. It was our first time staying in a hostal and we did the private room which felt like a standard hotel room. They also offered laundry service for 8 euro per load which was a bonus We felt like our clothes shrunk in the laundry

The room was very clean. There was a little balcony that overlooked the street. The location was quite central within easy walking distance of shops, cafes, parks, bars, etc. The staff was friendly and very helpful (especially the night staff!). Breakfast was easy with good hours. The room was a bit small - but we had everything we needed!

Central location

There are no slippers in room. It is unacceptable. Air condition didn't works properly. It's not cooling enough.

The location is great, right in the downtown area with plenty of shops, restaurants, and historical sights. Bonus, they had a very affordable laundry service, which allowed us to go out for the day and come back to clean / folded cloths. Staff is very friendly. AC is not so great, plus when you pull your room card out it shuts off, so the room is warm when you come back.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. A bigger room was available than the one we had book and they upgraded us to one with a lovely terrace. The elevator could get crowded easily so wait times are a bit long at peak times

Coming along with a car was a nightmare. First you have to find a parking spot, something impossible in Madrid, THEN go up 2 floors to reception to check in to THEN get a key for parking. Attendant completely unwilling to meet me on the street to open the parking. Maybe that's just the norm in Madrid. Also, bring a tiny car, it will barely fit in the car park and be willing to carry your bags up the parking lot stairs, onto the street and then up some more stairs before getting to an elevator.

Very clean, great location, nice breakfast, good sized rooms

An annoying noise coming continously from the ceiling during all the time has prevented me from sleeping. Also the very thin walls. A signboard at the breakfast room telling the guests not to leave personal and precious belongings in the room has made me feel unsafe. Will not return.

This has been mentioned before, but I would mention it anyway: the fact that there is only one elevator could make the wait during peak hours a little bit long. They suggest to use the stairs, which is possible but 1) when you are checking in or checking out you normally have luggage and the stairs would be very uncomfortable and 2) not everybody is fit to take the stairs for 3, 4 or 5 floors. As mentioned, the breakfast is very good, only negative point is that you have to go out, but it's just next door to the hostel, so not a big deal.
