Great location, friendly staff Bathrooms could be cleaned more often

Superb location, just a stone throw from Jonker street. Ringo's foyer is a typical old school no frills hostel. Old and worn in the edges, but Hey...I like that. There's sometimes some toilet paper, but BYO everything else....and that's fine for me, as I don't like to pay for things I don't need. The common bathrooms were always clean. I had a private room and although basic, it was surprisingly spacious for a hostel room. It had a window and excellent AC. Towels were supplied, but no blanket or top sheet. I'm self sufficient, so that's fine. The price is right for what you're getting. Excellent WiFi worked everywhere. I absolutely loved the spacious rooftop sitting area. Perfect for BYO evenings. Hot water for coffee or tea is supplied in the reception. Friendly staff. You can't wear any footwear inside. This is fine EXCEPT for inside the common bathrooms! This is not hygienically at all....and afterwards you're going to bed with potentially something on your feet. Some travellers do carry some kind of only for inside, slippers. Those should be allowed. Also the shoe boxes in the corridor stink. The smell hits you as soon as you enter. The boxes are enclosed, and don't seem to ever be aired out.

Great atmosphere, great people, great vibes, great location. The private room was spacious, with an AC that worked well (except for when it didn't, but this was fixed quickly!) Various activities were available from the hostel including gym/pool trips, tours & bike rides, all facilitated by wonderful volunteers. I was sick for part of my stay, and the owner's hospitality was next level awesome. I would not hesitate to come back and stay again. Not much to dislike about this place, if you can see past the run-down toilets & facilities, which left us feeling a little unsanitary at times. Not suitable for a clean freak, but it's a hostel, what more can one expect?

The hostel is located in a very central location. There is 3 different social areas where you can sit and relax. There are some activities every evening and you have access to a pool located a few minutes away by grab. The place has a nice social vibe and the owner is super friendly! I would definitely recommend this place if you are planning to visit Malacca!

The staff and volunteers were amazing and they planned lots of fun and social activities. They had a nice rooftop where you could relax, play cards or enjoy an evening beer. The bed was a bit uncomfortable

My first time experiencing social hostel and it was the best experience. It always something happening there, the owner and the volunteers are very active and welcoming. The bathroom facilities can be bit cleaner and renovated.

I had a terrible experience at this hostel. The place is not clean at all, and everything feels extremely old and worn out. The bathrooms were dirty, with no proper sink for washing my face, and there were no mirrors available for dressing up. The pillow covers were filthy, which was very unhygienic. To make things worse, the AC was turned off during the daytime for no apparent reason. I have stayed in many hostels before, but this was by far my worst experience. When I went to the rooftop, everything was so dirty that I felt like I might catch a skin infection. On top of that, I was sneezing all night, likely due to dust or poor air quality. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean and comfortable stay. Not worth a penny!

Backpackers vibe. Nice to meet people. Rooftop good at night. Very close to the center. Nice staff and very kind owner. Cleaning could be better. In dorm next to the bed there is dust and hair they just change de sheets and dont clean so much around the bed. Rooftop with a lot of potential but eveything is too old and broken and durty, pillows and mattress should be renew or cleaned. And also cleaning the rooftop floor and table should be a minimum.

i was really happy to stay at ringos :) I was travelling alone and the Volunteers work make it super easy to engage with others through one activity everyday. Also the owner is super charismatic ! The dorm contains a lot of people but still you get the feeling of private space ! Hoping to come back soon !? my mattress was not good, but I heard of other guest that they had more luck!

The highlight of the hostel was friendliness of the staff and owner. It's an old delipitating hostel in desperate need of repairs and renovations, and perhaps some deep cleaning.

Nice place owned by nice people

Best vibes ever for an hostel Leave

Nice vibe, comfy capsule dorm bed, cool rooftop and friendly staff. Good location too, just a few mins from Jonker St and they offer cool activities each day too. Only a few of the toilets have toilet paper (the others only have a hose/bidet)

Nice people and staff Bed was just dirty when we arrived.

The staff are excellent, very friendly and helpful. I liked that they have lots of recommendations for food and things to do. They definitely know how to create a friendly environment for backpackers. Very close to the Main Street. There wasn’t much to not like. I’d say the room wasn’t the cleanest. A little bit dusty.

This is a very social hostel which was great after a long period of solo travel. It feels a little like university vibes, so be prepared for that, but really nice hosts and very good, safe, fun place to stay! I would definitely go back!
