It is quite literally a room with a bed and very little space to maneuver around. The shared toilet rooms are quite laughable. A normal sized human cannot fit into these areas. I had to stand up to urinate because it's impossible to close the door if you attempt to sit. It's very nosy, which is to be expected in NYC, but it's so loud outside of the window that I felt like I was sleeping outside. The only way to slightly cancel out that noise, is to turn on the A/C window unit. I could not access the safe in the room so I can't speak to that. The mini fridge felt cool but after seeing a roach in the sink I was turned off from putting anything in there. I also did not use the shared showers. It seemed more spacious than the toilet rooms so that may be a better option to urinate if need be. I paid for 2 nights but checked out a day early. Unfortunately, since it was after their check out time, I was told that I would not be reimbursed for the remaining time. Chelsea Rooms is not somewhere I would ever return, but to each their own.

This place is basic but you know that coming in. No tv in the room etc. It was clean, the bed was comfy and not too noisy. The shared bathroom was clean. The staff were really helpful - thank you so much. Will return next time I am in NYC.

Very central, great value for money and everything you need. Staff were great and happy to accommodate anything! There are shared facilities but we had no issues at all with them. Rooms could be hot at times, even with some of the AC! But then again, it is NYC in the summer.

It was a good location close to transportation.

Very good location, had to stay here in an emergency and booked last minute and they were very nice to me, beds are comfortable. They let me store luggage for 5 hours after checkout 3 narrow flights of stairs up so bringing luggage was a chore, the bathrooms were very small and cramped unfortunately

We had a great stay at Chelsea Rooms NYC. Better than we expected! Location is fabulous, we walked everywhere so it was just right for us, everything seemed to be near by. Staff was very helpful and friendly. For 15 nights we did not face any issues, AC was working properly, toilets and bathrooms were clean, easy access at any time, toilet paper and toilet seat covers were always there to use. Room and bedsheets were nice and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Size of the room was small but it was better than what we expected. Our room was from the back so the noise from street wasn’t that bad at all. But choosing a stay in Manhattan you need to take into account the street noise. We were very happy with the choice and if we were to go back we would definitely choose Chelsea rooms again.

Chelsea Rooms is centrally located and close to major attractions and travel routes. The room and facilities worked well for us - small rooms but everything you need for a short stay. The toilet rooms are almost too small to fit a person (6ft/1.8m tall) - useable but tight (although we were warned by staff). The bedding did have some stains/hairs which we expected having read reviews but would prefer to not have. Understanding that this is an old building, space and soundproofing are limited - you can hear noise from the street and other rooms/hallway but this didn’t stop us sleeping overall as we are used to noise and the staff provided ear plugs. Knowing it has shared shower/bathroom facilities (although clean!) would have impacted the extent to which we wanted to stay here - we only noticed in the small print after.

Excellent location for value. Some street noise- all ok for us, may be harder if sensitive sleeper. M

The staff was super friendly, and everything was clean. The room was not comfortable at all. The bathroom was extremely small, and since I have a fear of confined spaces, it made me very uncomfortable. If I had known how small it was, I would not have booked this place. The location was also disappointing. If you walk a little further, there are much better areas, but the immediate surroundings of the hotel did not feel pleasant, and there were a lot of homeless people nearby. Finally, there is no elevator. We had heavy suitcases, and carrying them up the stairs was difficult and exhausting. The staff was very kind, and the property was clean, but overall the experience did not meet my expectations.

Great value for the price, the room was clean, didn’t see a single bug (big seller for me!!), and the staff was helpful and respectful. Great for solo travelers, the room had an air conditioner and provided a wonderful, central rest stop while spending most of the time adventuring around the city.
