Wingate by Wyndham Bronx/Haven Park

This is a party hotel. It's not a hotel to go to and relax. The hallways when you go up the elevators to the rooms are dark blue and not welcoming at all. The hallways remind me of a dorm hallway. You can hear other people in their rooms. The location is a terrible place to put a hotel. The room was the size of a closet. It was so bad and unwelcoming I left within 10 minutes of getting into the room and went and booked a room at an actual hotel. I would advise not going here unless you want to hear loud music blasting from the outside into the hotel and don't mind it. This is a terrible representation of Wingate.

The breakfast is nothing fancy, but the coffee is good! There is one young lady at the front desk who provides fantastic customer service (she remembered us from previous stay). Appreciate that there is security on premises. Room was clean and decently sized for NYC accommodations. Too bad their neighbors don’t help keep the sidewalk a bit more clean. Appreciate that it’s near a subway line. I can appreciate that they maximize building exposure with Rosa’s Rooftop bar- but when you have a 2:45a wake up it about sent me over the edge- the windows rattled it was so loud… that being said, it didn’t go late into the night. But it is a hotel first! It’s still the best option for the area (6 minute walk to kid’s apartment and the walk to Yankee Stadium was 20 minutes).

Valet parking was a bit expensive but thankfully there was sufficient roadside parking. Venue is well maintained. Rooms are on the smaller side but it feels comfortable, the interior design makes up for it.

It is close to the subway, buses to shop & dining, hospital, corner store that was open 24-hrs, and LaGuardia airport I wish the room had more space. The rooms have no microwaves to heat up leftovers.

Overall this was a clean place to sleep for the night for our trip to see a Yankee's game. The staff at the front was very nice and helpful. We were able to drop off our luggage before the game. The AC was good. Easy to order food for delivery. The breakfast was minimal, grab and go. Sweet cereal, bagels, and and oranges. The bathroom and shower walls are tinted glass but you can see outlines of the person using the facilities. Perfect for people you are close to but awkward for others. The mattress on a platform had no structure or edge. Felt like I was sleeping on a pile of clothes. Overall, the photos in the booking details are not accurate of what is actually available. No room table or chair. You either sit on a small stool or the bed.

The hotel was spotless from top to bottom, including the bathroom. The beds were very comfortable. The location was convenient, close to the metro. The area around the hotel was a bit out of the way, which could be inconvenient for walking around. Very occasionally, we noticed some people who appeared to be using drugs not far from the hotel, though this was rare. Breakfast had limited options, though that seems fairly common for hotels in the US.

We checked in around midnight after an event. When I asked about the parking garage we were told it was closed and there was no attendant. I was not leaving my car on the road in this area. I told them I wanted to cancel and was told it was non refundable. I told her I didn’t care I was not parking on the street and that I specifically booked this hotel because it had a parking garage. Magically she’s able to open the garage and a parking attendant is there in less than 2 minutes just by simply picking up the phone. After we got to our room which was decent bathroom is a little tight and claustrophobic but it served it purpose. We went downstairs to see if they sold bottle water and she hands us 2 glass bottles with screw on caps and point’s to a tap in the counter where you can fill up the bottle. We took the bottles but never used them, it felt unsanitary. Next morning when we checked out the person was different and much more pleasant. When I went to get my car I was charged 30 dollar to park which was never mentioned. I don’t recommend this place at all personally.
