If you’re looking for a cheap accommodation, and don’t mind sleeping in shared dorms, then this would be okay for 1 night. Personally I don’t like the idea of sleeping close to strangers so I opted for a private room. I thought it could be okay, I’ve stayed in hostels in the past and know the deal. The hostel is in a cute neighborhood, I found a very nice plaza Casa Barro close by for dinner and breakfast. That was probably the only positive of my experience. But for me, I was extremely disappointed with this hostel and my choice of private room and shared bathroom. I booked for 3 nights and ended up only staying for 1. It was actually quite pricey ~$60 USD per night for a private room and shared bathroom. The guy at the front tried to say it’s because the holiday rates are much higher. But I ended up finding a place that night that was cheaper and offered so much more closer to the center (and with a private bathroom!). Upon entering the building, you go through what seems like the garage which is very dark, and contains maintenance equipment. To be honest, it felt like I was in a prison facility that was just painted with art on the walls. The amenities and shared spaces were colorful and it seemed like some care was put into space. But going up the metal staircase and into my “private room” my first impression was definitely…jail cell. Especially with the metal door and broken glass window lined with metal brackets. I was placed in the guanasa room, and the floors were torn up and dirty. The photos online are very deceiving, conveniently leaving out the worn down floors in all the pictures. Looking back, all the photos don’t really capture the essence of this place, with its false aesthetic and filtered pictures. The bed was very uncomfortable, I could feel a broken spring stabbing me while I slept, although the bedding was of good quality. I was still very cold with the small fleece blanket they provided. At night you can hear music from the bars and dogs barking, but that’s pretty typical of anywhere in Mexico. You could also hear when people walked around or climbed the stairs. The shared kitchen was cluttered and not inviting to use either, though I probably wouldn’t have used it anyway. And now the shared bathrooms. They were okay, fairly clean and maintained. Honestly I haven’t stayed in a hostel for a few years now, but the ones that I have stayed were far better.

The location is good. First, it’s a hostel, bot a hotel. We arrived 4h past the checkin time and our bedroom wasn’t ready because they had plumbing issues. They let us in anyway because we had dinner reservations. When we came back we were informed that the issue had been fixed. But still, we had no water on the shower and I did went back to complain but the reception was closed already. Our room was large, but only had a small strip of windows close to the roof, bed was uncomfortable, bathroom was dirty and water on the sink smelled really bad. The breakfast was poor, and coffee was really bad. The following day they moved us to another bedroom, smaller but more comfortable. The shower worked, had good pressure, but there was a leaking from the toilet bowl. It’s a bad hotel, I do not recommend it.

Perfect hostel to discover the magic of Oaxaca! Staff as well as the owner are super friendly and helpful (loved the staff's music choices for breakfast ;)). Rooms are cleaned every day and you get fresh towels every day too which we were not used to from other hostels. Our highlight was the rooftop terrace with a sports area (mats available for free) and a chill area to hang out and get to know other travellers. Location right next to Jalatlaco, a colourful artsy neighbourhood, and a parc with street food. One thing I would say is that the joint kitchen was not very clean, other guests leaving food in pots etc. This is not necessarily the hostel's fault, but if you plan on cooking a lot during your stay, might be a bit annoying.

Location was good and friendly staff. The rooms were too basic and simple. They charged for a towel but no soap or shampoo given. Coffee was horrible, please improve.

Location is ok and staff is friendly. We rented room with private bathroom. The toilet did not work (it took more than 4h to fill up the kettle), shower had poor water pressure - only drops of water came out in the morning. Also you could not close the bathroom door. Such bathroom is almost useless to rent in my opinion. I know it is stupid, but there was a guy (from the staff) loudly singing everyday from morning till evening, and as the doors to rooms are not sound (or in any other way) proof, you could hear the guy all the time. I got food poisoning and wanted to get some rest, but with the singing even the earplugs did not help.

Staff are very helpfull, good location, clean, Marine arranged an taxi to the airport for me as I don't speak Spanish. a little bit hard to find the entrance as there is no sign. I couldn't take hot shower on the first day. But it was that time only. they fixed immediately.

The suff was so helpful, lovely and kind. We felt really welcome at their casa! The accommodation is simple, but you gonna get all you need. It offers a really chilled atmosphere, a great roof terrace, and the location is excellent to explore the city.

The bed was comfortable There is no breakfast because they offer only fruit which is not tasty and full of water, there is no hot water doesn’t matter what time you are taking shower. Ants were walking all around the wall, we were charged for towels. Toilets do not function properly and there is no toilet paper. Basically it is hostel with bad quality not a hotel

Big thumbs up for the volunteers and the staff. They are amazing and just because of them we had to give higher review points. The room was clean. The location is very good, but can be loud. Even if it’s not completely in the city centre, there are some bars around with loud music. We really didn’t enjoy showers. The water pressure is so light that it was really hard to rinse off the soap or shampoo. Same with toilet, water pressure is very low so flushing something bigger than a number one, was an issue.

As far as hostels go, this was quite good. We couldn’t get in anywhere else for day of the dead at a reasonable price. It was well run and staff were very helpful. We slept fine and the room was spacious but very basic.I would recommend it to backpackers. Coffee at breakfast was Ok but toast and watermelon isn’t worth bothering about.

The volunteers were amazing! i knew the beds didn’t have curtains, but it was s surprise to know that the doors had windows and now curtains on them - not only it was difficult to sleep because of the hallway lights but also everybody was creeping in looking inside the room. The showers had a problem and weren’t properly working. No social life there. My bed’s matters had bumps all over it and it was soooo uncomfortable to sleep in there.
