Loved the welcoming communications and helpful personnel! Jay and Francisco were so kind and made our stay very easy. Comfortable lodging and great location. Charming with a modern twist style hotel possessing quality comfort for our stay.

Location is good in downtown Oaxaca, a 10-15 minutes walk from every place you want to visit. It is safe and comfortable. It is a small boutique hotel with only 5 rooms. Staff is on site till 10 pm and they are incredibly friendly and helpful. Standard interaction channel is WhatsApp and if you contact them they respond within a minute and if you need them they will come right away to your room to help you. You select the breakfast from a menu the day before and it is served at the time of your choice in the patio. The ladies preparing and serving it were fantastic and the breakfast was good. We mostly interacted with Jay who helped us with a lot of suggestions and explanation about Oaxaca. We really liked talking with him and with the other guests we met at breakfast

It is a nice place but I would qualify it more as a B&B than a hotel. It has no proper staffed reception. You need a security code to enter the "hotel" itself. It has only a few rooms. Nothing particularly wrong with that but considering the high price of the room per night, we were expecting a posh hotel, so it is somewhat of a surprise. Although the communications through WhatsApp before and during our stay were always good and rapid, we were never told that there would be a blockade on our street during our stay caused by a teachers strike. It was a bit of a shock one morning when we walked out and saw all the tents blocking the street and found out that the blockades would be for an indefinite amount of time. We researched it and the blockades had been planned several weeks before our stay. We would have liked to be warned about it in advance. It all worked out at the end as our host arranged for a taxi driver to physically come pick us up and take us to his parked car nearby. But we still broke a wheel of one of our luggage while rolling it on the cobbled stones.

I stayed here for a week. Small boutique hotel with only 5 rooms. My room was small but more than enough for one person with good amenities on an interior courtyard. Both J an Omar gave great information. It's hot in Oaxaca in May and the AC is outstanding. The breakfast was outstanding. Location is around the 3 blocks to the Zocalo and close to everything most people will need. I would stay here again. Being in the middle of the city occasionally is a buit nosiy.

Location was good. 10-15 minute walk away from everything Bathroom lacked privacy, the window in bathroom was visible from patio that if someone is working the bar they could see in our room. You can also hear the person next door in their bathroom. Cleaning lady stole my wedding ring.

Our stay at Materia in Oaxaca exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the service was truly five-star in every way. Jay was absolutely beyond exceptional. His local connections and thoughtful guidance made our stay feel effortless and deeply personal. He went above and beyond at every turn. The hotel itself is stunning. Our king suite was beautifully designed, comfortable, understated, and luxurious. The bathroom was next-level luxury while still feeling warm and relaxed. Morning breakfast was also incredible, far beyond what we expected. Materia is a very special place. Beautiful rooms, outstanding food, and service that truly sets it apart. I would recommend it without hesitation and hope to return very soon! We loved EVERYTHING! Not One Problem, Not 1 Complaint.

Clean, unique architecture and design throughout;comfortable beds, excellent maid service, good food, amenities like sun hats, tour books. Umbrellas and yoga mats all provided. A great little upstairs terrace bar with tapas. Breakfast served in an outdoor shaded garden. Staff was amiably helpful in recommending nearby restaurants. Location is great- walking distance from the center of town/ the zocolo and Mercado. Nothing! It was great!

The room and bathroom were big. The bed was nice!! And people working were super nice and helpful. Great location! Only thing I didn’t like was the sink is weird so it sprays up when you’re washing your face.

The central court yard, what seems like it would be a beautiful place to enjoy in the evenings, echos within the area. While checking in at 10pm, another guest came to complain about the noise as she had an early flight.

Great staff! They were very friendly and helpful. Delicious breakfast served daily in the courtyard. Great location within walking distance to most everything in al centro.

The staff were fantastic! They were very friendly and helpful making our stay delightful. The breakfast was excellent and we looked forward to making our selection for the next morning.. The location was perfect near good restaurants.i I liked everything about this hotel.
