I like everything. Smaller property, super nice and caring staff, great location—not too close to the busy center. N/A

The best hotel I have ever stayed at in my life! I really wanted to leave a great review and a long comment because this place deserves it. Everything is exceptionally clean. I was a little concerned about the “dry toilet” concept at first, but I had absolutely no issues with it. Everything here has a purpose and a reason behind it. All the rooms are uniquely designed and follow a beautiful eco-friendly concept. The aesthetic is stunning, cozy, and thoughtfully curated. I loved the abundance of plants throughout the property. Guests can even make tea using herbs directly from the garden, which is such a lovely touch. The shared kitchen is another huge plus: everything is modern, well-organized, high-quality, and spotlessly clean. There is complimentary coffee available, and it is absolutely delicious! It is sold at the coffee shop attached to the hotel, and I highly recommend trying it. I was also impressed by the sustainability efforts. All waste is carefully sorted and recycled, which is incredible to see. The location is excellent. I was able to do everything on foot. There are wonderful cafés and restaurants nearby, a local market where you can enjoy authentic street food (which I personally preferred to the larger market in the city center), convenience stores, and everything you might need within a 10–15 minute walk. The area felt very safe. I often walked around alone, including returning at around 11 p.m., and I saw many other women comfortably walking or using their phones in the streets. The room was quiet and dark, allowing me to get some of the best sleep of my trip. There is also a beautiful and cozy rooftop with yoga mats, hammocks, chairs, and plenty of space to relax. It was the perfect place to read a book and enjoy a coffee. The entire property feels welcoming and peaceful. Finally, the reception and staff were outstanding. Everyone was kind, helpful, and always willing to assist.

I am obsessed with this hotel. The room was so cute! I wanted to extend my stay but it was booked, so I tried 2 other places in Oaxaca, but I loved Niyana so much they could not compare. The room was very nice and comfortable, the staff welcoming, the property highly secure. It was walkable to the heart of downtown in about 10 minutes, with plenty of other stuff around. I felt fine walking, even alone at night. Staff were very nice. Wi-fi was good. Be advised there is a "dry toilet" / eco toilet (non flushing, compost-type toilet). I did not realize this before I got to the hotel. While it was ok for me, it may be off-putting for some.

Such a wonderful hotel! The property is absolutely beautiful and they provide a bunch of little things that make the property feel like home (coffee, drinking water, yoga mats, and more!) The staff are amazing, they are very kind and provided awesome recommendations. They also set up a taxi for early in the morning that was seamless! The bathroom was nice! Hot water, nice shower. The compostable toilet was great! It was easy to use and there was no odor. Plus, it felt good to offset my footprint as a tourist! Nothing–it was great!

Nothing to say here

The sustainability of the hotel is nice, but this gets in the way of comfort. We wouldn't recommend this to people that just want to relax and enjoy their vacation. There is no AC, and the dry toilets (while cool to save water) are not that nice if you get some bad food like we did.. The water pressure in the shower also wasn't great.

The room was a bit small for us, otherwise all good
-
How accommodating the staff was and the amount of information they provided for the self check in. The room as a little hot but not too bad.
-
very cool experience.

Elegant space. Great ethical attitude to the environment, warm reception, contemporary style.
-
We wish the dry toilets were changed out more frequently.

I loved the environmental awareness of Niyana. I loved that you were free to use the kitchen to make breakfast or a snack. It would have been nice to have another hand towel, and a change of bath towels when you request that your room should be cleaned.

We were impressed by their commitment to have well organized recycling system, a well planned communal kitchen & frig, & just lovely people. The yoga mats on terrace a big plus too!

The eco-angle of this hotel could be considered 'inconvenient' if you are unfamiliar with the processes involved, but Niyana has made every effort to make sure all systems are in place to make this easy for anybody. We are not necessarily well-versed in this regard, but we have never experienced any trouble or complications as a result. Everything was super clear and organized, the rooms were super nice, and the staff were beyond friendly and accommodating. Nothing.

Such a calm and tasteful compound in the heart of the city. I loved the rooftop lounge with the hammock and yoga platform. The vibes of the place felt luxurious while also being ecoconscious. The staff was friendly and helped me set up a wood block printing class. And I didn't mind the dry toilets one bit!

When i return they will be my first consideration.

The location, staff, and amenities were amazing. Great little yoga area upstairs that we really enjoyed. Also having a kitchen for access to hot water in the morning was a great bonus. Jonathan is great and everyone at the front was very kind and helpful. Would definitely love to come back. The dry toilet was a little difficult to get used to, but they were willing to change it out every day upon request and that was really helpful.
