Cocoroom Guesthouse Cafe and Garden - Hostel

The location is close to shinsekai, but out of the crowded area, the neighborhood feels much more authentic. The hostel itself is very nice, the staff were very kind and friendly, there was a garden and rooftop and the whole building was decorated warmly and cozy. I would definitely come here again if I ever get the chance Nothing

it's a lovely place with lots of art but unfortunately some of the people working there don't make you feel welcomed. i was reading in the shared space when someone from the staff just came inside and turned off the lights even though they say me sitting there ? that felt strange - i definitely would have turned off the lights when going to bed. this made me feel quite weird ...

The atmosphere and the inclusive community

It’s a very arty place with painting everywhere and instruments that you can play. They offer free tasty tea. I needed to change my travel dates, so the very nice staff was able to accommodate my wishes without any extra charges. The location is quite cool: close to Shinsekai area. Showers were clean and nice. The shopping street right in front offers some cool stuff: bought 2 kimonos from a neighborhood store for a fair price. The room was very warm at night. Plus human smell. There’s an AC available but was turned off at night. No conditioner in the showers.

This is my second stay at Cocoroom. I would describe it as a community center on the main floor with guest rooms above. If you want to meet local people as well as interact with other travelers, the public areas and shared meals are a great experience. The area can look a little rough on the outside, but I never felt unsafe as a single female traveler. The minor inconveniences of sharing space with a lot of people; hard to find a place to eat if you’re cooking your own meals, using the showers and the bathrooms in the cold hallway… people not taking their laundry out of the washer… the guy next-door to me that snored really loud loudly…

Cocoroom is my home in Osaka and I will keep coming back here. <3

I didn't appreciate the unnecessary extreme cold temperature in ALL the hallways stairways and bathrooms showers/toilets (even sometimes in the kitchen and communal areas) as well as the room i stayed in was unbearably ? cold UNTIL I found a space heater my self... brought it in my room, turned it on, an left it on for many hours....not until WELL AFTER THAT was my bedroom actually a reasonable temperature ?

Garden seems cool. Got severely bitten by bugs all over my chest and stomach, 5 days after it’s still bad. I’ll have marks for a few weeks for sure. Beds are incredibly dirty and uncomfortable. It was my 3rd time there but I’ll not come back unfortunately.

Convenience location, Friendly for child. None

All the staff was very warm and inviting and made a genuine effort to include guest. I loved the art and the home-y feel. They made family meals every day and even though I didn't participate I thought the option was very nice. Only the rooms were heated but no heat anywhere else so you had to walk around with your coat throughout the hostel.

Super cheap and okay clean laundry nearby (the hostel has one too, but it doesn't really have a dryer, and it was raining when I was there). Budget-friendly supermarket 2 mins away. Subway entrance 5 min walk. This is not a fancy hotel with top-of-the-line facilities, but the common areas, though not new, are carefully maintained. The room was clean, and all the facilities worked smoothly. Please update the picture on the website with the stone’s status after the polishing process is done! This is both a strength and a drawback. The hostel is located on a historic shopping/nightlife street with many super cool old shops (the graphic design on them is fascinating). Still, it can feel a bit overwhelming for some people/ some times.

The location is close to train stations and shops. It is very easy to get to Nara or Hyogo. It is one train away from Nipponbashi station. I booked a private room and it was clean. They accommodated my late check-in and gave instructions for self check-in. The showers were clean, too. It’s a good place with great communication.

A community oriented facility with welcoming and wonderful staff. Highly recommend! Slight bit of noise in shared rooms as expected, and slight bit of mosquitos in common area outside - nothing the mosquito coils couldn't handle though! :)

The lovely atmosphere and the people

I love the homey feeling I received from Cocoroom staff, the warmth and colorfulness of the Guest House cafe and interior. The rooftop provides cheap laundry and clothes hanging rags and a beautiful 360 of DobutsuenMae neighborhood

The whole building has all the facilities you could want, but also is beautiful, full of art, has a great garden out back, and most importantly has a very cool community built around it. The staff are very friendly and happy to include you in on activities that are happening at the cafe or elsewhere, even if you don’t speak Japanese. Of all the places I stayed in Japan during a month long trip, this was by far my favorite. Nothing, other than if I knew how awesome it was I would have booked for longer.

Amazing staff, fun location, fantastic vibe to the accommodation. Option for a family style dinner and breakfast with the staff and other guests.
