Aloft by Marriott Portland Downtown Waterfront ME

Very basic set up. Great location, not really very much privacy between bedroom and bathroom area

My son and I love the layout of the room. The beds were big and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and spacious. The walk in shower was beautiful and easy to use. There are plenty of towels, hairdryer, and space to put our things. We felt safe walking around even at night. It's walking distance to Old Port and many wonderful restaurants. We would stay again on our next visit to Portland, Maine.

Rooms were very quiet Parking was terrible, not enough spaces with an overflow lot streets away requiring payment and reimbursement. This was a major issue for me. Breakfast provided was ridiculous, ended up getting breakfast elsewhere.

Location They charged me 1 1/2 months before my check-in for the full price of a rez that was supposed to be “no prepayment,” and when I called the hotel they said the rez was non-refundable. I had a free cancellation with Booking up to three days before check-in? No coordination between Booking and the hotel. When I complained to Booking the promised they would reverse the prepayment charge, which they never did.

Aloft has a good location on the edge of the Old Port district and is convenient and walkable. Parking is available for an extra fee in an adjacent parking garage. The staff was friendly and the rooms were well kept. The loft-style rooms probably aren't for everyone since the bathroom doesn't offer much privacy from the rest of the room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. There is an area to hang clothes but no closet, which is fine for 1 or 2 nights but might be an issue for longer term visits. The fitness center was acceptable. There is a small shop in the lobby for buying drinks and snacks, although the prices are very inflated ($6 for a soda?). There is a bar area open but no meals beyond snacks offered. If I were to stay in the area again I might choose this hotel if the price was lower than others, but if I was looking for more amenities and comfort I might choose another.

Located on commercial st…easy walk to cafes, restaurants, tourist tours. Very clean hotel. Very nice gym. May cater more to families, pool table, board games. Easy set up to grab and go breakfast sandwiches or snacks.

Great staff especially at reception and the free shuttle driver. Way too expensive for what was on offer.

The location No table in room, the bathroom was more of a hallway no privacy ,no space to put things like adesk or table the breakfast that I paid extra for was like takeout not worth the money. Very disappointed.

The hotel is located within walking distance to everything. Check in was easy, they offer shuttle service around town which is nice although I did not use it. The staff were very friendly. The bar stays open until 12:30 am. There is on site parking for $40 a night. The 2 nights we stayed we did not receive room service which I was ok with.

Great location, excellent front desk and housekeeping staff, but the room layout is very strange. The shower and sink area have no door, and therefore no privacy as you enter, take and exit shower. Plus, there's a mirror positioned at opposite wall so you can't miss shower entrance/exit from any part of the room. Also the entire hotel across the way can see into your room and you can see into theirs. Exhibitionist utopia!

Clean rooms and hotel was quiet.

Location Very high price for a 3 star!

It is a modern hotel so there is no door separating the shower from the bedroom. The toilet does have a sliding pocket door. It’s a great hotel, I’ll be back.

Friendly staff No free parking no free breakfast

Location The layout of the room is not ideal for a family. You could not even take a shower without being seen. The lack of door was ridiculous. Thankfully there was a door for the toilet! Huge disappointment!
