The property once you’re inside is beautiful. I love the Photo Booth and the cafe on site. The location is sketchy. We had our 1 yr old with us and ended up moving hotels halfway through our stay because it didn’t feel safe to walk there from the parking lot.

I liked the location of the hotel and its proximity to the downtown area and the affordable rates and the simplicity. I liked the proximity to public transportation. I also liked the $10 flat fee for all-day luggage storage. The bunk room was not a good fit because of the lack of privacy and the cramped bunk and the dark room. The storage lockers were on the opposite side of the bunk room from my bunk. The lockers were not secure because the doors lock but do not close all the way. The next time I stay in Portland I would rent a private room.

It's a fantastic historical building that is kept very clean. The barista, Jasmin is always there to greet me with a smile, kind words, and the best cup of coffe money can buy in these parts...Cafe Vita roast from Seattle! My favorite! Victoria is usually the night person here and she is the best hotel host I have ever encountered! She actually runs a Portland city tour on the weekends, so you can only imagine how much information of the city she has blessed me with! She always is smiling in every situaion, even when I have witnessed not so nice guests try to have their way. Victoria is a master at defusion and making any situation into a good one! The entire staff is great! So nice and welcoming! I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Portland! Nothing

Love this hotel for what it is/where it is/the value…but the staff made it an absolutely exceptional experience. Not only did they go above and beyond during my stay, but they contacted me within two hours of departing to let me know they found two items of mine that most housekeepers would have just tossed in the trash or put in their pocket! SO happy with the service and care! The windows don’t open, but that’s part of the deal—and very clearly explained in the room book/hotel guide. The rooftop deck is extraordinary, if you ever need a breath of fresh air

Staff were wonderful human beings. Not transparent about large damage deposit collected on check-in (Only shown in small print in the left sidebar on this website once you've already hit Reserve, on a cluttered page where you're inputting your guest information). The manager said nobody has ever complained about the deposit before, that I should have read the fine print, and that it was necessary because there are a lot of issues with drug users destroying the $300 in linens in each bunk. Which is not a me problem, it means you've over-improved for the neighborhood and decided to start treating the hostel bunks more like a hotel where you get nickel and dimed for everything. Ridiculous excuse for common areas and "kitchen" (that doesn't even have a microwave) that are INSIDE the bunkroom, meaning you always have to creep around silently if you're an early riser or arriving late or just want to sit and use your laptop. It also means you should not expect any of the normal hostel opportunities to chat with fellow travelers. Completely about aesthetics and not functionality. The only plus side is that the other staff I interacted with were absolutely wonderful human beings, including the barista at the cafe. But you cannot even gain access to the building without being manually buzzed in each time. This was awful when I returned that evening and really needed to use the toilet. If you simply need a place to crash for a night, this might work, but do NOT expect the usual amenities of a hostel or anything practical. You're getting an expensive comforter and Instagram-friendly vibes, not a hostel. And the second you exit the building, you're plunged right back into the heartbreaking economic and unhoused crisis of the neighborhood, making their hollow aesthetics feel almost inappropriate rather than a welcome respite.

Really cool old building and neat rooms. Private room had my own sink and privacy. Downtown location makes it super easy to move around the city. There is a rough looking crowd that hangs around the area. A lot of open drug use however, I never felt unsafe, even walking back after midnight from the star theatre. I can see how it may intimidate some people but the majority of homeless people here keep themselves to themselves.

Also the Cafe was great too. I had avocado toast with micro greens. Sooo Portland and utterly perfect. Honestly it exceeded expectations.
-
Decor groovy and sophisticated The bathtub needs a handle and don’t slip mat.

Nothing. Just what I was looking for

The nighttime Victoria was the best! We got a good recommendation from one of your staff: to visit Washington park. Sunrise bowl was very good. Everything in the room and hotel area was clean. The bed, blanket and pillows were good. The reception staff was efficient. The room, especially the bathroom, was pretty cold. There were no fridge nor water boiler, even if it was described in the booking site. The shower gave quite a little water. The air was a bit stuffy and you couldn´t open the window. I hit my foot .several times to the wood under the bed. There could have been cupboards and more space. It was hard to see all the homeless people just outside the hotel.

I loved the location
-
Bunk room is beyond my expectation,it was soft and comfortable. The room is quite, good for sleep. Shared bathrooms are good, clean and with good facilities. It has purified water tap in room, with hot water. Also, there is cabinet for every bed,you can use your own lock to lock it。 One more thing, the staff are really really really good! The area isn't the best place in the city. But it is safe. It might look scary but no one gonna hurt you. This isn't the hotel‘s fault. Just mention there for anyone who is nervous.

The roof top is one of the best views you can get in Portland

Loved the price. Adored the staff. The vibe was hip. Yummy menu. And location a close, safe walk to MODA CENTER. Portland is a homeless wasteland—the conditions were appalling, including encampments on sidewalks, outdoor parking lots and open drug use was off the chain. However the staff was reassuring and friendly! And the hotel is super clear and meticulously run. LOVE that they iff SAFE INDOOR SECURE PARKING — use it!!
