Residencial Faria Guimarães

Location was close enough to the center, but be prepared for walking up hill when returning if you want to walk, but luckily the location is close enough to the Metro Faria Guimarães. Also they allow very lates checkin which can be in handy for some. Facilities are outdated. WC toilet location facing the bed with a transparent not much of a separation. The shower is separated in a kind of closet style. There was an air conditioner as promised but couldn't find the remote of it and was too late at night when I realized it was missing to ask for it. Honestly would not stay again.

Lady on reception was kind., very welcoming and helpful. The property smelt lovely and room was nice and clean. Had everything needed for a comfortable stay. Leaving the key behind when going out didn't bother me and never waited long to be let back in. Would stay again. 20 mins walk to down by the river or has good links to transport. Can't really fault it and recommend for a break in porto Nothing

location, wifi and confort they don't let you keep your room key, no control on the air conditioner and you have to wait to them open the entrance door

The room was not clean . There where dirt on the bed . I asked to change it and the staff refused to change it

We had a really good experience in this place. The host was very nice and we had everything we needed. Its located quite practically. Every touristic place is easy accesable. Clean towels, bathroom mat and beddings were provided. The bed was really comfortable. Only advice if you are a light sleeper, bring ear plugs because the traffic is quite loud

Really good location, very central surrounded by good commerce and restaurants. I like it as well because it was very familiar , I felt right away at home quiet and discreet. I advice you if you want to stay central at a very good price and comfort.

Nothing Bed was very noise and bad

The location was pretty convenient, just a few minutes walking to the near-by metro station. The room was also decent for the price, being compact yet with a private and separate toilet and bathroom inside. One of the biggest bummers is that the staff smoked inside a room on the ground floor so the building was heavily smokey-smelling. The smell even got to the room and eventually stuck to my clothes and luggage :( I put up with the situation since I only stayed for two days. If you are a non-smoker, please avoid this place completely! The tap water also had a strong fluoride taste despite being supposedly safe to drink. I felt quite unwell during the stay, not sure whether it was due to the smoke or the tap water. Another remark is that the woman at the reception desk was extremely unfriendly. The first instance was when I dropped off the luggage early and asked to log in with the wifi since my data didn't work right away in Portugal, she declined and told me that I could only use the wifi when I checked in. Only when I was so desperate did she finally give me the password. Secondly, when I gave her my passport to check in, she assumed instantly that I was Chinese despite me being evidently Vietnamese. And lastly, everything in and of the room, despite me staying in it, was under her inspection. For example: - The keys had to be returned to her, which can be reasonable in hindsight since I had one less worry about losing them - The AC could only be turned on and adjusted by her although the room was cold in February. - Given the smokey smell, on the first day, I relocated the reed diffuser near the bed from the toilet. When I returned to the room after going out, the thing was returned to the toilet! Overall, not a recommendable stay unless you are a smoker, heavily on a budget, stay only for a night or two and go out for a significant part of the day!

Location was accessible to centre Room was dirty and smell of smoke all the time. You have to give keys to host every time you leave which is inconvenient and host appeared bothered by this despite us having no choice. Towels were visibly filthy to which host tried to blame us for. Don’t recommend

We had to leave keys at the counter every time we go outside. And the host lady goes inside your room and check everything. No privacy. Plus rooms smell was horrible

The bed is comfortable, toilet and the bathroom is separated. There’s no ventilation to the bathroom, and no floor towel for the bathroom. You have to give the key to the owner when you go out, and ring the doorbell to ask her to let you in whenever you come back. Which takes time, especially when it’s late at night, it’s just not efficient for both side. Also the lady, who I assume is the owner had a terrible attitude, she told us to get out when we about to checkout anyway, also rolled her eyes at us when we out of the room and used her mirror for 30 more seconds.
