9 Hotels in our journey through Portugal and this was a highlight, not only because of the city. The service was very good, many beautiful areas to relax and the personnel was fun to talk to with great recommendations and a good taste of Port wine The view from the pool area looks better on the photos, and it could be better isolated from the street.

The staff was great. The views from the terrace is nice. Over valued for what it offered: - low quality towels (frayed bath robe) - poor lighting in bathroom - disconnecting spa meant having to walk with robes through reception and bar room - unshaded terrace at breakfast time

Excellent location with a superb view of the river. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and professional. The room was quite small and the bathroom is pretty much part of the bedroom.

Everything! The room lighting. Was quite dark

Breakfast was excellent. So much choice, and they do cater to those with gut sensitivities. Everything is made fresh. Location wasn't bad. 1215- minute walk to the Clerigos. Service was slow during dinner in the evening.

We stayed in the hotel for a week with our six month old. We received a very warm welcome. The hotel is well-equipped for baby guests. There was a warmed pool inside alongside the outside pool and baby shampoo and shower gel was offered as well. The breakfast was really nice and included lots of different fruits, bread, cheese and so on. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The restaurant at the hotel, Digby, offered an amazing menu as well. Apparently Digby is run by another company. This means that getting drinks in the evening was only possible at the bar or outside, and not in the patio since these spots were reserved for restaurant guests for lunch or for dinner. Although this was a pity, the bar was extremely cozy with a flowered ceiling. The staff was also very correct. They handled a situation with an extremely rude hotel guest that demanded a seat in the restaurant for drinks in the evening without having dinner in a very calm manner. If you are not used to city noise, then it is possible that it might be slightly more difficult to relax at the poolside. However, the location and the view makes more than up for this issue. If you book a hotel nearby the city center, you cannot expect to only hear cricked noise.

The property was very nice with a fantastic view over the Douro River I left a pair of Paul Smith swim shorts in the room, we were getting an early train to Vigo. I emailed the hotel and they said the swimwear had not been found. They were not in our luggage and so had been left behind, my fault, but the hotel denied that they had been left which just couldn’t have been true. But c’est la vie
