Staff were wonderful and friendly; Breadcrumb, the cat, was a great Happy Hour greeter; and Kevin, the bartender, was wonderful. The breakfast was a mixture of Italian and American, making a happy medium for a kid. The hotel was also within walking distance of most attractions and close to the bus stop. The neighborhood was lively and had amazing food choices. The staff alone made it 5-star accommodations. Could hear the stupid birds throughout the night and in the morning.

The entire property was the cutest little oasis tucked away behind the walls of the old cloister. We could not have asked for a better place to explore everything that the Travestaverre had to offer? The service was impeccable and we have to give a personal shout out to Kevin for the greatest happy hour experiences. The rest of the staff were also amazing and I couldn’t recommend in strong enough terms that this is the place to stay in Rome. I will say I am more of a fluffy pillow girl but they solved that with multiple pillows!

Stayed here 19 years ago and it has gotten better. Once you enter the gates you don’t know you are in a major city. Beautiful quiet courtyard. Staff is fantastic Nothing

I had the most incredible stay at Hotel Santa Maria, and I can honestly say it was the people who made this experience so unforgettable. A very special thank you to Adriano at the front desk, who always greeted me with a warm smile and went above and beyond to help with directions, dinner recommendations, and reservations. He truly made me feel like part of the family. I’d also like to recognize Armando, who was incredibly helpful with arranging taxis and guiding me around the city, and Francesca, who always had a huge smile and made sure everything was perfectly set—especially when helping me arrange my taxi to the airport. Thank you as well to Alessandro for the warm greetings in the evenings—it was always so nice to come back to such a welcoming atmosphere. A heartfelt thank you to Norman for the many cappuccinos he prepared for me, each one topped with the cutest little messages that made me feel so special every single morning. Shout out to Cristian and Merito for making sure I had everything I needed at breakfast—they were attentive, kind, and truly wonderful. And to Kevin at the bar, thank you for the delicious limoncello and for making me feel completely at home. The hotel itself is spotless, charming, and perfectly located in the heart of Trastevere, where the nightlife is lively and full of energy every night. I absolutely loved everything about this hotel, but most of all, I loved the staff. Thank you all immensely for making my stay so special—I already miss you and will definitely be back very soon!

The courtyard, the lemon and orange trees, the breakfast and happy hour, the location, the quietness, and most importantly, the amazing staff. N/a

Quiet location right in the middle of busy Trastevere. Lovely room, and fun happy hour. The staff were truly exceptional!
-
Location in Trastevere is very lively on a Saturday night so there is some street noise. Not too bad even for a light sleeper.
-
The property was even better in real life than the hotel photos. The lushness of the garden and citrus trees was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable, however we stayed in one of the smaller rooms, but the size was good for us.

The property was amazing staff was terrific

Staff was terrific. The breakfast was very good. The location was ideal for our group. The rooms were a bit basic but clean and well maintained. The grounds were attractive.

Location and staff were AMAZING. The bed/mattress could be more comfortable

Beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. The breakfast was delicious and the courtyard was a sanctuary in busy Rome.

The breakfast is amazing. We felt safe here as it's behind a locked gate. The property is pretty and clean. The room is fine, however, the noise of the evening within the property kept us awake for 3 nights. They have birds that make noise, cats, and the tile outside the walkways - you hear everyone come back and slamming doors. The neighborhood is suppose to be one of the nicest, however, there is graffati up and down all the streets and alleys. They charge additional for water in your room and the happy hour, that is solisited is only on the weekends.

The staff was very helpful. There was a hiccup the first night with some footsteps audible from the upstairs room, but they were very accommodating and moved me to a more isolated place the following night. Everyone there was very friendly and polite. I had a great time
