Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Central

Online check-in through the Hilton app worked fine. Parking is shared with the neighboring Holiday Inn and felt limited given how close the buildings are; $10/day isn’t unreasonable for California, but don’t expect much availability. The lobby is unremarkable but pleasant enough. Only one elevator in the main lobby meant a bit of a wait at times. The layout is a nice touch — rooms face inward around a central pool and mini-golf area, which gives it a more resort-like feel than you’d expect. That said, the hot tub was disappointing: barely warm, and it cooled further within minutes. The in-room shower was hotter than the hot tub, which shouldn’t be the case. Cleanliness was mixed. Nothing outright dirty, but nothing spotless either — right on the border. The shower had visible cracks and staining, the countertop had stains, and the weather stripping on the front door was peeling enough to see daylight through it. We also found a toothbrush left behind under the sink, pushed far back. Small thing, but it suggested housekeeping isn’t thorough on the details. The bed was fine but a little lumpy.

Great visit just wish we had more towels in room when we got there there was only three for the five of us but I got more at reception they were very helpful def would come back again

Exceptional

The biggest issue was the temp in the king bedroom of our two-bedroom suite. It stayed in the high 70s and reached 83° many times, making it extremely uncomfortable to sleep. After a shower, especially with four people in the suite, the room quickly became very hot. Maintenance checked the AC, but the best we could get was around 74° temporarily. The second bathroom also did not have a shower curtain, so that shower wasn’t a practical alternative. Our digital key also stopped working during a hotel system outage, leaving us unable to access our room for a period of time. Communication was initially excellent, although our text messages stopped receiving responses after about 24 hours while the temp issue remained unresolved. Breakfast was another challenge. Every weekday morning between 8–9 a.m., it was extremely crowded, making it difficult to reach the food with guests and staff restocking around the serving areas. We also found the parking lot concerning. It was very full, and several times we encountered people arguing or walking around parked vehicles. Some appeared not to be hotel guests, which made us uncomfortable returning to our vehicle. With all of this, I would not go back or recommend.

Location, breakfast, pool Room is really noisy and vibration

Not what I expected from a Hilton property. Most of the public trash cans were not emptied regularly. House keeping was every other day which I had no issue with but the room was not cleaned well and the towels were not replaced. We had to go to the front desk to get more towels. The room was extremely loud from the thin walls to the a/c unit. All rooms face the pool and we were at the end of a hallway furthest away from the pool but it was still very loud.

I showed up to check in and there wasn’t a room available for me. I payed and booked the room almost a month prior. All the neighboring hotels were fully booked so I had nowhere to stay. They said it was a computer system problem that they overbooked the hotel. I didn’t receive any voucher for the inconvenience. I had to uber all the way from the San Diego airport just to stand in the lobby for 3 hours while they called around to different Hilton hotels to ultimately say there’s no rooms for me.

The property is very dirty. The common area floors has dirt everywhere even in the morning when the day should stsrt with freshness. The breakfast buffy is dirty with food everywhere and improperly stored (Milk sitting on top of a bag of ice for hours). The rooms are poorly cleaned and at check in I founds dirty clothes and left over food in the room from the previous tenants as well as clumps of hair in the shower and on the floor (mind you I am checking in so I had not used the bathroom yet). THe pool area in the morning looked as if a raunchy party had occurred the night before, old beer and alcohol bottles left at pool side, vomit in the bushed hair and bandaids all in the pool and on pool deck. Pool railings were broken and caused injury. Despite notifying staff about issues nothing was cleaned or recrified despute them saying it would be. To top it off, one of the staff attepted to charge my credit card six times with six different amounts that didn't correlate to any amount that I would be paying for the stay. Luckily my card flagged this activity as "likely fraud" and declined the charges, However the staff continued to try and charge the card and my card was shut off, causing me to hva declined purchases as I was out and about in San Diego and not aware of the fraud activity. Managing staff had no answer to why this was done with my card. Do not stay here, it is not worth it.

There was trash and empty beer bottles under the sink. The carpet was bare to the metal at one spot. There were ants in the bathroom. The ottoman was in disrepair.

It was an ok stay nothing bad and nothing above average…room was clean although room phone and lamp not working but did not mind…breakfast was just ok as expected…all staff seemed nice and was assistive….at a good rate will be back and consider staying again
