Great attention for Malik. Awesome location for touristic.

The staff was nice. Okay location The condition of the hostel is very bad, the walls are all dirty, and the bathroom has a very disgusting smell. Overall, the photos of the hostel do not match its current condition. While it's close to many good areas, the street where the hostel is is extremely loud (surrounded by only big streets), and it's hard to sleep at night.

The property was excellent. It was made especially wonderful two great employees Malek and Benjamin. These guys really helped me with suggestions and arrangements for an early morning taxi to the airport. It was great. No complaints!

The beds need some kind of curtains for privacy and rails so I don't fall off the top bunk. Shower was small and sinks were slow to drain. Need more hooks.

Amazing!!! I absolutely loved this hostel. I was staying in Santiago for around a month, and ended up not changing this hostel to anything else. I can highlight the cleaning service – they treat it as a hotel, so the stuff changes your bed every day, the bathrooms and common areas were always clean. I also cannot recommend the stuff – people who work at Merced are just the best! I want to highlight their receptionist Christian, throughout the whole stay he was always extremely helpful to everyone. In my time there I experienced staying in two rooms: one 4-bed female one and a 4-bed mixed one – both were great, even tho the female one I can recommend better. The people who stayed in the hostel were amazing too, many interesting international people. Even tho this is not a “party hostel”, you still can have fun if you want by attending their rooftop bar that works every night - BUT it was never too noisy. They also have a small gym and a big coworking room – both free to use! The kitchen was also big enough. Overall, I cannot recommend more Merced 88. I am sure the experience can be different depending on a room too, but everything in a span of a month was beyond satisfying for me. Make this your next stay in Santiago! The only problem was the showers – they leak every time someone uses them, so the floor was flooded. It didn’t bother me much, but it adds a lot of work to the cleaning stuff. I hope they can fix those soon.

Great location, walkable to many other parts of the city and near mass transit. The staff there is SUPER, very friendly and helpful. 2 rooms, one had nice breeze from large window, 2nd was hot with tiny window and no ventilation. Top bunk was really wobbly. Not the cleanest bathroom, but tolerable.

Nothing to complain about, the staff is helpful a d kind.

It was everything I needed: clean, comfortable, affordable, close to the center and to public transportation. And great staff- Christian was always so helpful, knowledgeable and nice :) Nothing, all good.

In general this hostel is nice, it might be the 2nd or 3rd time I booked it! They even have a cowork and nice views from the terrace. I've been there before, so kind of knew what to expect, however this time was not that ok. The key I was giving to get into the room was not working the 2nd day and that was messy because I had to leave before 5am to a tour and nobody helped me to fix the room key, hopefully another guest helped me opening the door. I was sad I was noising trying over and over with the room key. (but someone from the hostel message me, that i was too noise haha, I told him the issue I had before 5am, not really my fault) The ladies in the room had their staff all over the place, that is not the hostel's fault however recommendations/guidelines mentioned when checking would be great. I know it is a shared room, I can't ask much but still some empathy from people traveling and sharing room would be appreciate!

I really enjoyed this staff. I had a great chat with Raul after he was done working and learned a lot about chile and its different cultures and their importance. Ignacio was also great and answered all my questions. It is very clear that Eric is always thinking of ways to make the rooftop bar fun and engaging. Cheers to the staff!

He helped orient us around the hostel and the area, gave great local tips, and made everything feel easy and comfortable — which was huge for us since this was the end of our month long trip and we were ready to decompress.

Centrally located in Santiago, the hostel was clean and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Nicolas and Daniel Nothing!

Malik and Raul were very friendly and welcoming. Room and facilities were clean and comfortable.

The location of the hostel is also perfect — steps away from the subway, and within easy walking distance of many of Santiago’s major attractions, parks, museums, cafés, and restaurants. It’s super convenient for exploring the city. The room and common areas were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and I felt very safe staying here. The combination of great service, ideal location, and overall comfort made this a fantastic choice. Huge thanks again to Raúl for making my stay so memorable — I would absolutely return and highly recommend Hostal Merced 88 to anyone visiting Santiago!
