Hostal Rio Amazonas
About Hostal Rio Amazonas
Just 328 feet from Baquedano Metro Station, Hostal Río Amazonas offers rooms with free Wi-Fi and TV sets. We are in the middle of 3 great neighborhoods, each at 10 min walking distance: Bellavista (nightlife), Lastarria (gastronomy) and Barrio Italia (Antiques and design). Santiago’s historic town center is at 30 min walking or 10 min in public transport. Decorated in lively colors, rooms at Río Amazonas are very bright. All of them feature heating and private bathrooms. If you wish, you can request breakfast as an extra. Bread, homemade jam, juice, fruits, yogurt, cheese, egg, coffee, tea and milk. Drinks, coffee and food can be ordered at the bar. Excursions can be booked at the tour desk, and there is a library featuring books in several languages. We can provide parking upon request (extra cost), and shuttles can be arranged to the airport or bus terminal with our trusted taxi. Hostal Río Amazonas is 6.2 mi from Arturo Merino Benitez Airport.

Breakfast is very basic

Cozy, felt well taken care of. Had a lovely time during my brief stay. There’s a place to sit outside and there’s a bar and cafeteria. It didn’t bother me, but if I have to pick something I should point out that the building isn’t the most modern. But everything works!

It’s a large, bright building with lots of windows and beautiful artwork. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They have great recommendations on attractions and restaurants. The patio is lovely and a great place to read or have a snack. Getting a room with balcony is a must. You truly cannot beat the location or value! My one suggestion: a non-slip shower mat or textured stickers. For anyone with balance or mobility issues, it gives comfort they won’t fall in the shower. Nothing major but a thought.

The layout of the building, the windows, the patio, the friendly service and 24-hour reception are all fantastic. Even the smallest room is comfortable and provides a restful night. It’s a historic building that’s been updated with insulated windows and balcony doors. If you are an architecture fan and like bright artwork, Hostal Río Amazonas is for you! It’s perfectly located between, Parque Bustamante, Bellavista and Lastarria with plenty of restaurants, museums, and tree lined parks. Personally, I liked the Single Economy room but it is snug quarters, especially the shower, so bear in mind. But you cannot beat the price for the prime location!

Great location, close to Metro and places to explore. Great helpful staff. Decent breakfast. Also dinner and drinks were available and what I had was very good.

Amazing position

I loved this place. It was so cool with its architecture and art. Lovely garden and bar. Excellent breakfast. Staff was friendly and helpful. It was like your home in Santiago.

Great location. Old, quiet building. On a noisy street
-
Staff friendly and helpful.? Location close to metro and felt safe to walk at night. Pillow uncomfortable but good bed . Rooms hot but fan and window opened. Window off alley so quiet. Room small and older but character.
-
Nice room very comfortable bed. Very clean. Close to the skatepark and restaurants.

Resourceful staff, thank you Coraline for your recommendations! Walking distance to stores, mini markets, etc. Spacious room. Lovely patio veranda and indoor lounge. Lack of A/C—it got uncomfortably warm at night and hard to fall asleep. Grateful for the small fan, would not have been able to sleep without it.

In a very good neighborhood of Santiago…close to many nice restaurants. Kind and welcoming hosts. I had one of the economy single rooms and the shower was very difficult to clean yourself - due to the very small size. Also, the noise from the road can be heard most of the night in these rooms. The next time I will spend a little more and book a superior single room for the advice of the hotel.
-
Room hot so had to leave window open so some noise. Pillow too big and hard. Single room very small. Breakfast over priced.
-
We hit Santiago during a pretty hot spell and without fans or AC the room stayed really hot all night. Street noise was also really loud, so I highly recommend ear plugs and eye mask if you're a sensitive sleeper.
-
Beautiful facility, rich in history and character. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommend.

The soundproof is bad, my 2nd night I was woken up at 3AM but the guests upstairs, they wear boots and the sound is like shaking the floor, I need to catch my early flight as well so I hope I could sleep well, but I cannot, anyway, I asked to switched to 2nd floor for my 3rd night and it went well.

The breakfast was copious. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very nice. It was also a great location. Nothing it was great

Room was comfortable and quiet in great neighborhood close to lots of restaurants, museums and parks. Staff was great--personable, warm and helpful; felt like staying with family. Street noise and heat meant I couldn't sit out on balcony.
