Staff could be friendlier and smile more often. Hermes stood out as did the tall gentleman who helped me with the safety box as well as the woman who stocks the Colonial Imperial lounge. JMO

Beautiful hotel, great location.

an absolutely beautiful building and room. Great staff and attention to detail.

The rooms and facilities are fairly basic compared to what you pay. It's overpriced. The Hotel also refused to acknowledge the booking I made on booking.com and made me pay at the counter for double the price. I am still waiting for the booking.com refund. Nice colonial historic feel but over priced as facilities are extremely basic. Location is excellent.

Historic ambiance, location, exceptional service. Had a few mosquitos in the room. Can't really be avoided here (like any tropical lacation).

Location is perfect: spacious and clean rooms right inside the walls of the Colonial Zone. Free parking available, although there are only a few spots. Nice outdoor pool. Breakfast included — not very abundant or varied, but the food is good. Check-out at 12:00. The bed was a bit uncomfortable

I asked for late check out and was offered to pay $10 an hour. They do keep a secure luggage storage but a couple of complimentary hours to use the room after paying $1k for 5 nights would have been appreciated.

Hotel is centrally located if you want to be in the Capital. One of the reasons we have come here over the years is the antique authentic cultural touches all throughout the hotel and the safety. The beds were comfortable and the doormen were very nice and helpful. I was traveling with my elderly mother, and unfortunately, the layout of the room was not suitable for her. There were three steps leading to the bathroom with no railing to hold on to, which posed a safety risk. On our last day, she fell on those stairs. Additionally, we paid for breakfast in advance, but the experience was very disappointing. The food was cold, lacked variety, and was not of acceptable quality. When we raised our concerns to the waitress and to the front desk, we were told the charges would be waived; however, at checkout, we discovered that they had not been removed. Furthermore, our room was not cleaned for two days despite having the sign displayed and making direct requests to the housekeeping staff. It was not until we got management involved that our room was finally cleaned. We checked out around 4:30 AM, and the front desk attendant was asleep behind the desk and initially reluctant to provide us with a printed statement. After insisting, I received a copy and noticed charges for the in-room bar, which we were previously told by staff and housekeeping was included (DO NOT CONSUME ANYTHING IN THE ROOM). We were unable to resolve the issues of the breakfast and mini bar charges before departure with the front desk since one the man that was working seemed bothered we woke him up from his sleep and was being short with us, and two because we had to leave for the airport and were told the manager would not be available until 9:00 AM. Overall, the number of inconveniences we experienced significantly impacted our stay. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not choose to stay here again.

NOTHING WENT WELL! MY BABY WAS BITTEN BY MOSQUITOS AND A SPIDER IN THE ROOM!!!! Parents deserve to know what happened to my family at this hotel. The room was constantly wet, muggy, and humid, no matter how cold we set the A/C. Our clothes felt damp, the air felt heavy, and it was obvious that moisture and insects were coming through the ventilation system. This unsafe environment attracted mosquitos and other bugs. While sleeping in this room, our 10-month-old baby was bitten multiple times on his face, arm, and hand. We woke up to see his body covered in bites. We were terrified. We had to rush our infant to emergency pediatric care, where the doctor told us the bites were likely from a spider or similar insect and prescribed anti-inflammatory and allergy medications. No parent should ever experience this, especially while staying at a hotel that claims to be safe and reputable. This was a completely preventable medical emergency caused by lack of proper fumigation, sanitation, and room maintenance. After returning to the hotel, the manager Ana Cepedes personally apologized and promised in front of multiple staff members that we would be refunded one night’s stay to our credit card. We trusted her. That trust was misplaced. After relocating to Hodelpa Santiago and staying there for over 10 days, we followed up repeatedly. Ms. Cepedes continued to assure us she was “working on the refund.” Despite numerous WhatsApp messages, the refund was never processed, and eventually she stopped responding altogether. This experience showed a complete lack of accountability, honesty, and care, especially after a child was harmed. The physical conditions were unsafe, and the management’s response afterward was deeply disappointing. Families deserve better. Based on what happened to us, I cannot recommend this hotel, especially to anyone traveling with children
