It was traditional style hospitality. There was a common room where you could eat and make tea . You could ask the hostess to cook you a meal . Humiko was very helpful and friendly. The Ibsen was fantastic A little steep to get up the hill but very close to the markets snd old town

The room with some smell and cleanliness can be improved further. You can't have your own private shower room but using the public onsen room for shower only. Unsure if there have option with private bath room.

The location is nice. Unfortunately the property is not maintained well or clean. We felt the bedding was not properly washed, there were stains on the carpet and the sheets. New carpet was stapled to old carpet to hide stains I am assuming. Overall very dusty and not maintained well.

The location is perfect, we had nice view of the city. Our room was cozy and clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We ordered breakfast two times in japanese style ans it was absolutely amazing. The furniture is old and bathrooms could be cleaner, but it was ok and nice.

Location This was by far the worst place I’ve stayed in Japan. There are no real showers, only the shower heads attached to the wall in the onsen area with no shower curtains or dividers. This meant that anyone that entered or used the onsen sat there and watched you shower, which was not disclosed ahead of time and was really uncomfortable. The pillows were dirty and minuscule, and filled with beads or beans of some sort instead of filling. The room was filthy and covered in stains which may have been mold. The lights in the room flickered constantly. There was 1 shared bathroom for each gender per floor which was not cleaned often, as there was period blood on the floor of the women’s toilet and it remained there the duration of our stay. We ended up leaving early as it was absolutely disgusting.

Location It’s definitely old and a bit dirty. We paid a lot because of the festival but it was still the cheapeast hotel in Takayama during the festival

Location was ok, reasonably quiet provided other guests are quiet. Onsen was good. Dressing gown and toiletries provided. Shared bathrooms, only booked this hotel because we ran out of budget options which included en suite. In-room fridge was noisy
