Ueno Station Hostel Oriental 1 - Caters to Men

Close to Keisei Skyliner, JR, Metro, plenty of foods, convenience store, Donki. Currently they renovate their public bath area on 4th floor, but you can use it on another brance which is 3 mins walk.

The location, the facilities and the attitude of the staff. They explained everything really good and it was easy to do the check out and the check in. The restrooms smelt awful and there was no hand soap.

The pods didn’t have a fan so got pretty hot over night.

This property has experienced a serious decline in both security and guest experience. The second-floor guest area originally had controlled access through a locked door requiring a code. During my stay, that door was simply propped open, allowing anyone to enter. What was once a relatively private floor became a public gathering area with numerous non-guests or unidentified individuals lingering there. The bathroom "upgrade" was actually a downgrade. Four toilets were removed and replaced with five cramped shower cubicles made from fabric partitions attached to PVC pipe frames. Unlike the original showers, they do not provide proper privacy, changing space, or locking doors. The result is only two toilets serving roughly 35 sleeping spaces. The biggest issue was security. During the night, two valuable rings disappeared. When I reported the incident, the staff showed virtually no concern and immediately handed me directions to the police station. The speed with which this was done gave the impression that such incidents may not be unusual. After losing confidence in the property's ability to provide a safe environment, I chose to leave early. Despite the circumstances, management refused to refund any of the unused nights. I cannot recommend this property to anyone traveling with valuables or expecting even basic hostel-level security.

centrally located to ueno was nice the place was not clean. it looked like someone's home and for the price was not worth it. the bath was closed.

The location is good and near the station. The fascilities are good. Overall it was cheaper as compared to other properties in the area. Combine shower room were very uncomfortable ( muslim point of view). Also prayer room or some open space was not available for prayers. The air conditioning was not good ( for one night) and the staff refused to change the temperature due to people ( almost 40~50 capsules bed on single floor). I was going to cancel the booking due to these issues but it was not possible. Please note that it is pure from muslims point of view,being living in wider hostel/hotels in the past. it was my first experience living in capsules type of bed.

I will add maybe a bigger area to eat if you bring food and not in the same floor of the bath as many people walk naked around.

The location to Ueno center is excellent. The onsen was actually extremely decent. The top floor was way too hot with no way to cool this down even though air conditioning was advertised as an amenity. The above ground metro is audible except between the hours of 00:00 and 06:00. The was a chunk of the ceiling missing in the sauna. Multiple sinks were in need of repair. I watched a grown man cry as he was being held by the police.

The private locker is large enough for one hand luggage and a small backpack.

Good location The budget capsule is old af, for the same price I can get something way better. They charge that high because of the location. The locker is super smelly and they didnt mention charging for luggage storage after 2pm on your check out day (1pc/¥1000) and that’s the only reason I chose them at the beginning because I’m taking Shinkansen on that night.

The sauna is amazing and the place is very clean, they clean every day I would give it 10/10 but for some reason the heat is set to 25C which is way too hot indoors, too hot to close my capsule, I imagine it’s also very expensive for them to heat the place this much
