Samesun Toronto - Hostel

The staff were very friendly, the hostel was clean at all times, and the complimentary teas/coffee and breakfast were ideal! Whilst the location of the hostel makes it accessible to kensington market and is an ideal location for food places and shops, there is also alot of drug use and/or homelessness around the hostel

I had an excellent stay...

The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming throughout my stay. Breakfast was served right on time, and overall, there is plenty of space to relax. I stayed in a private single room, which was spacious and very clean. The only minor inconvenience was that, even though it was a private room, the bathroom was shared with the rest of the floor. The immediate area outside feels unsafe and unpleasant. The surrounding streets were quite dirty, and there was a group of around 20 people living on the street and openly using drugs right in front of the building during the day, which made walking nearby uncomfortable. Additionally, some common areas inside the hostel, particularly the hallways, had a strange odor of sweat and lack of cleanliness.

We actually had to choose this hostel because another booking we had at another location was cancelled on short notice. This is a decent hostel. Despite having only one restroom on our floor, it was clean. The position is close to a tramway, which is very convenient. Our room was facing the street, and it could be noisy at night because of people staying in the street. There are a few people on drugs staying in the area at all times (they did not cause any harm or issue, but expect them to be there when you get in or out of the hostel).

The Staff. Everyone is lovely and kind, but the guy who is working in the evening shift The neighborhood is really lively, and I loved that because if you want to eat something, spend time, have fun, you have the chance to do it, but all those people outside the building makes you think twice about staying at Samesun

Super clean and well-maintained hostel, and lovely staff! Very easy to get to by public transport. Kensington Market is definitely a must see neighborhood, its very lively! It’s very easy to meet people. The rooms are soundproofed well, I didn’t notice any excessive noise, and they’re air-conditioned The hand dryers were not working on my floor. The neighborhood is not the safest feeling at night, but thankfully its right next to the tram. Breakfast is included, but it’s very basic (cereal, bagels and some fruits)

The location

Everything. Rooms were comfortable and secure, towels and showers were easily accessible and well stocked. All the staff are amazing. The social events run by the hostel are really good. People there are wonderful. Located close to everything city wise, near good transport links, lots to see in anf around the area. Couldn't have asked for a better stay to be honest. Nothing. Folks on the street are an unusual sort but that has nothing to do with Samesun

The kitchen was great and the rooms are bigger than expected. Female showers on 2nd floor North building were full of mold everywhere and I felt unsafe using them.
