Great location and value for money!
-
a bit noisy when other guests return to the hotel
-
Air conditioning did not get to a confortable level.

Its ok beds were ok. There is construction outside the property so it’s very loud and next to a big street. The AC is not really working and it’s really hot there during summer. We were there during spring (May) and it was not even that hot. And in the room, it was too hot It never cooled down below 27 Celsius even though the AC was set to 19 Celsius. Staff is rude and not comforting and making false promises.

There was a bad smell when I arrived in the room

The balcony door in our room doesn't close tightly.

We spent 3 wonderful nights at MD Design Hotel - Portal del Real and couldn’t have chosen a better location. The hotel is literally in the centre of everything: just a few steps from Plaza de la Virgen, the Turia Gardens, the Cathedral, and all the main sights. You can explore Valencia completely on foot without needing public transport. Our room was surprisingly spacious and very comfortable, with modern design and plenty of natural light. We especially loved the private balcony with a lovely view over the rooftops and the nearby historic buildings. Having an electric kettle with coffee/tea facilities was a nice touch that made mornings even better. What truly made the difference was the fantastic service at reception. The lady who welcomed us was extremely professional, warm, and genuinely helpful. She explained everything clearly (check-in, Wi-Fi, access, etc.) and gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and hidden gems around the city. Thanks to her tips, we discovered some amazing local spots! We highly recommend MD Design Hotel - Portal del Real to anyone visiting Valencia. We’ll definitely return on our next trip! NA

The was a nasty smell in the entire building, smells like sewer

Location was great, just a 5 minute walk to the cathedral and lots of restaurants and less than 20 minutes to many other main attractions. Staff was pleasant and helpful. It met our needs. It was a far cry from the photos. I appreciate the attempts at design but ended up feeling like some low budget decor tacked onto a nondescript building. The hospitality facilities were minimal, eg. very limited arrival hours, a single common coffee maker that made mediocre coffee, wifi signal that didn’t reach our room. Our room itself had some cleanliness/maintenance issues, eg. stains on the sheets, grime on the showerhead, a shower shelf half-detached from the wall. As a matter of preference, I would prefer a sheet above and below the blanket (or a duvet option) so I know everything has been freshly laundered. (Very princesslike, I know.) I appreciate that small hotels need to operate on a shoestring, but it should still feel clean and hospitable.

Great design, comfortable bed, good shower, quiet AC. Location was on the edge of the busy central area but far enough away to be quiet when we needed an early night ahead of an excursion. Amazing roof terrace to have morning coffees with views of the Cathedral, listening to the church bells ringing across the city. Wifi was flaky. If you plan on doing some work or streaming you’ll need to tether. The 5G coverage in the area is good.

The MD Design Hotel was a brilliant place to stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities at the hotel were exactly what we needed. We loved the roof terrace and the room was a good size. It was great being able to drop our bags before we checked in and also stow them when we checked out. The location was absolutely excellent. It’s right in the heart of the old city, but it is on a lovely quiet street. You can walk to many of the tourist attractions (cathedral, market, are museum, etc, etc. I would absolutely stay there again and I’d recommend the hotel to others.
