Hotel Olivedo

Right in front of the ferry terminal and the views are amazing! The breakfast is really good too!

This is a well kept historic hotel. Rooms were large with breath taking views of the lake and town. The owner was a delight to work with and took great pride in guests comfort and creating a welcoming stay. It exceeded my hopes for wonderful stay in Varenna. It is situated right on the promenade with the boat dock literally outside your door. NA

Room was a little older and dated but a good size.

Close to the Lake and the Ferry. Quite at night. Comfortable bed. Large living space. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Small elevator. Crowds that gathered for the ferry.

The location is perfect! The two women - Titi and the other are super friendly and very helpful. The waitress' at the hotel restaurant are extremely rude, unfriendly and miserable people. Food was decent, but as with every where else in the small city, very expensive for what you get.

This was a beautiful hotel in a perfect location right by the water and the ferry station. The room was spacious and had a gorgeous view, and the staff was very accomodating.

The staff, service and facilities were amazing. The room exceeded our expectations and was very comfortable and the view from the terrace of our room was just spectacular. The train station was very busy when we arrived in Varenna and was hard to navigate through all the people on the narrow platform. We decided to get a car service back to Milan.

Loved the simple but high quality breakfast in the outdoor seating by the lake. Enjoyed the view and watching people stroll to and from the passarella. The staff was friendly and helpful. Best of all was the hotel's restaurant, Locanda Cavallino. Their 5 course dinner/wine pairings all chosen by the chef is not to be missed. We returned to enjoy different chef choices for a 2nd night. The gazpacho was perfetto. Next time may choose a room not on the top floor with conventional windows. Our small windows were either near the floor or very high. But this arrangement was clear when we booked. Therefore, this is not really a complaint but a plan to choose differently next time we stay at Hotel Olivedo.

The staff very cooperative although my reservation was non-refundable, but due to my circumstances, they were able to rent it for me and cancel my reservation with refund and no liability. I missed the location

Amazing location, couple mins walk to major attractions and good breakfast. Receptionist is a super sweet lady and very helpful.

Everything was wonderful, Tete was so very sweet, my room was comfortable, breakfast was delicious… location on the lake across from the ferry was convenient. A lift to the 3rd floor was helpful..I really enjoyed my time here. The fireworks display the night I arrived was spectacular!! I love it all

Location is perfect: right next to the water, close to the ferry terminal, and a 10-minute walk from the train station. Our room was great, with a private terrace and a view of the water and ferries. They provided us with a champagne, and we loved it. They have a good breakfast menu, and the live kitchen is amazing.

Staff is excellent: knowledgeable and helpful, especially in helping us deal with the airline (ITA) in tracking a lost bag. We stayed in the Annex, which I recommend. The rooms are large, modern, comfortable, spotless, and equipped with top-notch air conditioning -- a necessity in the summer. We had 2 rooms, both with views of the lake and outdoor terrace. The location is super convenient: right by the ferry dock and slightly removed from the crowds in the center of town. The wifi was often very slow and stopped functioning completely several times. If the Annex is too far away from the router, the signal needs a serious boost with better equipment. When the wifi was out, we were invited to use the hotel dining room where the signal was stronger. The decor is rather spartan, and Room 103 needs better lighting -- it's too dark. The terraces have no shade, so they can't be used during hot summer days.
