For older people may be akward as buildimg so old floors are uneven . Window sash brolen in room 5 could not keep b wimdoe open

Loved the history and it was very unique and quaint. It is truly in the middle of everything and the restaurant was very yummy.

Shower flooded first night . Wasn't draining. Drain trap had a mountain of hair in it . Clearly hadn't been cleaned in months hence the water wasn't draining. OK once I cleaned it myself.. Very noisy atm at about 8am onwards. Renovations ongoing at the church opposite.

Historical, great location!

Great location. Very full of character and ambiance. Can see the Minster right out the windows. We had the suite on the top floor, room 14. There was a VERY musty smell to the place. They should seriously consider scented diffusers. The towel warmer didn't work. Unable to get the radiator heat to work. Portable, electric heater was broken. The shower leaked and soaked the floor. Very limited supply of hot water. The toilet ran. Many low ceiling areas; hit our heads a few times.

Lacking housekeeping skills

It was a bit cold (though the blankets were enough and it wasn't a problem for sleeping) and a bit noisy (which is logical for an inn), but it went quiet around midnight.

Staying in a 500 year old inn that was the home of a famous revolutionary was a fascinating experience. It was by far the oldest room I've ever slept in and I wondered at length as to who had been born, and died in that space. It is next door to Yorkminster, the ancient cathedral of York and a great location all around. The food for both breakfast and dinner was delicious and staff were friendly and efficient. Be prepared for uneven floors and doorways that aren't square, but if to want that, stay in a newer hotel. We loved every minute. Great bar too! There was scaffolding outside of our window but that was temporary and scheduled to be removed right after we left. We were hoping to see a ghost or two, but no luck, despite the rumors that it is haunted.

The History , the character and convenience The age of the building doesn’t allow double glazing so a little noisy but that’s acceptable , they didn’t say that the bell ringers who are out of tune had a practice on Tuesday evenings

It hit the mark for the experience we were seeking - English Pub with rooms. Location was perfect for our stay in York and for some nearby touring. Easy to pop back to room during the day, pop out for an evening walk. Lively pub and restaurant, fun to feel like it’s your “home” Unfortunately the restaurant had an issue with their refrigeration and that limited the menu for the evening we had dinner reservations - as well as the breakfast choices for one of our mornings.

Location was fabulous. It was a quirky beautiful old building with great history. Lovely beer garden and amazing staff. Because it was a pub, it was VERY LOUD in my room. Impossible to go to sleep until pub closed at 11 pm. No on site parking. Long term parking was at least a 15 min walk which was difficult w luggage.

I absolutely loved my stay! The hotel is very unique as it is several hundreds of years old. I loved the quirks of the unstable floors and stairs. The decorations are absolutely beautiful! The staff was very friendly. The breakfast was huge and very tasty. This is definitely the perfect spot for you if you want a unique stay that has a lot of character. I absolutely loved staying in room 14, the top floor suite! It’s in the perfect location! I loved everything!

Loved the bar area and the enchanted garden at the back. The view was over the rooftops. Substantial breakfast, friendly staff, excellent location. Nothing.
