Amazing location, wonderful food. Toilet was broken and staff didn’t help to fix

The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We were put in a room that overlooked the bins and storage area, which wasn't very nice to look at. On a very hot night of the year, the windows didn't open properly to get any breeze through. The toilet had a very weak flush. Considering this was £250 for one night, we expected a higher quality of offering.

Location great...staff were great too. Room (Room 17) was small, dark and noisy with poor oulook.

Superb

breakfast was excellent - staff were all really lovely - great value for money - best location in York king size beds would be great

The bed was very comfortable and the location was excellent..the breakfast was very nice too. The skylight in the room (the hotel could do with finding a way of blocking the light out) couldn't have a relaxing lay in.

Amazing hotel with a history, so central you could fall out of bed and be at Betty's for afternoon tea. Staff are very professional with a human face and many actually appear to love their job. Food is spot on and breakfast substantial in lovely surroundings. Stairs

Impressive building and excellent location. The staff were lovely and very friendly. The room was absolutely minute, the window opened about one inch. It was stuffy and hot. The shower wasn’t clean. Very poor value for money. I did. It have the option to see the quality of the room on the website. I would not have chosen it if I had. I would have opted for a standard premier inn type room for considerably less money.

Fantastic stay and staff
-
Characterful hotel very well situated to access most of the major tourist attractions. Rooms well appointed with a very comfortable bed. Great breakfast. Staff very helpful. We enjoyed our stay.

Outside the hotel was nice. The smell from the room was disgusting. Raw sewage smell you coukd not get away from. Asked reception to take a look as we were there for 2 days he said yes not a problem. Went back at night and said it still smells. To which he said yeah we can't get anyone to look at it until next week it always happens. Paid 500 pound for a 2 night stay in a 5 star hotel and didn't receive 5 stars at all. The rooms are ridiculously small and your not staying in the 5 star building but a tin hut out the back.

Passable
-
Location No air conditioning and no shower for the four nights we stayed there. There’s a restaurant underneath with a terrace and lots of food smells coming through the windows because of no air-conditioning.
-
Small but well decorated room Comfy bed Really liked option for fresh milk Chocolate truffles Breakfast choices It was very hot - we did have a fan though
-
Central location but room was tucked away from all the hustle and bustle
-
Nice location and staffs are lovely No lift, if you carry a big luggage, good luck. And no air conditioning.

Everything about our two night stay and wedding reception in the private room was exceptional. We couldn't fault a thing.
