Before arriving, I wasn't sure the room would be as nice as it looked in the photos because it seemed quite small. But the moment we got there, all my doubts disappeared. The warm welcome from the lovely elderly couple made us feel at home right away. The room was spotless, the indoor bath was beautifully maintained, and every breakfast during our three-night stay was different, homemade, and absolutely delicious. The location was convenient, just a short walk from the bus stop, and the breathtaking scenery behind Sanso Tanaka made our morning and evening walks unforgettable. More than anything, it was the genuine kindness and care of the hosts that made this place so special. We left with wonderful memories and would love to come back. Our Western-style room had two beds, which were a bit firmer than I prefer. As someone with back pain, I found them a little uncomfortable, but this may not be an issue for guests who prefer a firm mattress.

Super cute, kind old couple. Very clean room and facilities. A very comfortable and peaceful stay.

room and outside onsen with good view, you can enjoy onsen by your own.

Beautiful inn with wood floors. The hosts were attentive and the room & beds were comfortable. There is a small informal dining area with hot water and microwave. Complimentary washing machine to keep up with laundry. The three family onsen baths were wonderful, in particular the outside bath. The breakfast bento was filling and tasty; we ate it in the spacious traditional dining area. All in all. A wonderful stay. The inn is away from the busy part of town (which is good), but a little ways from many restaurants (though the closest is about 5 minutes walk).

Quiet place to stay away from the main tourist street. Both the indoor and outdoor onsens were really nice with good quality water. Room was comfortable and spacious. Provided breakfast was nice too! I felt that the service attitude was slightly stiff and not as warm as I expected.
-
Great view seeing Mt Yufu. With both outdoor and indoor private onsen. There are torches to borrow when going outside at night.

The location is very convenient and within walking distance to restaurants and Yufuin main walking street. The Ryokan has beautiful mountain views and peaceful surroundings. The staffs are friendly and helpful. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed our stay.

The managing couple was very nice and accommodating. The breakfast was stupendous and the onsen was wonderful - -there were two inside, individual use onsens that were on a first-come-first-served basis. I wish I had had more time to sit in the quiet of what once was an ancestral home with some of the original woodwork preserved, especially in the main room downstairs where I had my wonderful breakfast, gazing about at the room as well as out the large windows to the countryside beyond. I also wish I had been able to use the outdoor onsen as well as the indoor onsen. I would re-visit the establishment if I were in the area in the future, since I appreciated the sense of a small, family-operated establishment rather than a large impersonal hotel. I wish that the time of free bike use could have been expanded, since check-in is 3 pm and I would have liked to bike around before then, as it becomes dark early in November and I had only one day in the area. The location is out from town, so walking to the location was a bit iffy since there was only one sign at the correct turn - something I realized only after taking a left at the turn before and then having to backtrack. As this was at twilight and after a long day, this was a bit worrisome, although all turned out to be fine.

Amazing ryokan in Yufuin! A great combination of traditional architecture and modern comfort. Owners were a very nice and helpful couple. They had resources prepared in english to facilitate a smooth check-in and guidance for the stay. There's a wide selection of yukatas to choose from. Basic amenities (e.g., rain coats) can be bought at the reception if you need something. The ryokan has 3 private onsens, 2 indoor and 1 outdoor. We tested all and enjoyed them thoroughly. There is no reservation system; you just take a sign during bath times and put it on the door. Onsens are available in the morning and from afternoon until evening. We always had an opportunity to use them when we wanted to. The bento boxes for breakfast were amazing; they had a little bit of variation each day. They even got me special ones without fish. We arrived a bit early but the owners allowed us to check-in ahead of time. Additionally, bicycles are available free of charge which is great for exploring Yufuin. Bicycles are only available during check-in time; we didn't notice initially and asked in the morning once and the owner still obliged and gave us the keys. It felt impolite when we noticed but we were very grateful! N/A

Amazing hosts and breakfast in a very tranquil environment. They have bikes which you can rent after checking in. Otherwise, walking from the railway station takes less than 15mins, depending on your walking speed. There are 3 onsen (one outdoor and 2 indoors) for you to choose from. When I was there, I didn’t have to wait for my turn, which was a pleasure one. Because of the structure of the house, I could hear the noise from the corridor outside my room so I was waking up several times.

Ryogan's outlook is incredible. when you can sit and coffee in the room ,you can see and enjoying the famous mountain.it was really nice to be able to feel the quiet and cozy atmosphere of village. the breakfast was excellent. especially there are three family spa. Ryogan is not that far from the bus terminal. but not easy to find there, there is no elevator.
