Hampton Inn & Suites Albany-Downtown

This hotel met the standard usually set by Hampton Inn. It's right in downtown Albany with some of the downtown "hot spots" close by. On note of advice, though. The neighborhood around the hotel gets pretty seedy very quickly. I drove a few blocks away from the hotel and quickly retreated. A hotel staffer warned me to be alert when out walking.

Check in was at 4 but we were able to check in a little early. Staff was friendly and helpful.

The staff were helpful and willing to help as much as they could, however the hotel was very busy with unfortunately only one working elevator. When we arrived in our first room, the bathroom door was missing a handle. We went downstairs and were assigned a new room. We then got another new room as the one working elevator was having issues so they moved us again to a lower floor so we did not have to go to the 8th floor, causing us to miss dinner plans due to moving multiple times l. The new room was okay other than smelling strongly like marijuana and the toilet water running for some time. The staff was as accommodating as they could be and we appreciate their help, however will not come back to this hotel.

I liked the room, the breakfast and professional staff The 2nd elevator was broken, only one of the elevators was functioning. This causes unnecessary wait time to call the elevator.

Breakfast was good, selection was nice. Everything was fresh tasting, including the coffee. Breakfast area was clean & spacious. The room was clean & bathroom was well stocked. The in-room refrigerator didn't work well, there was ice build up in the rear of it. The ice machine on our floor also didn't work and I had to travel to another floor seeking ice- inconvenient. There was only one elevator working in the hotel for the two days there- which functioned for guests and hotel staff. Huge inconvenience.

It was clean and welcoming I had no idea about the valet parking and $20 fee

Valet parking (wasn't necessary, but was nice) breakfast was terrible, served on disposable plates, and almost no variety. room was tiny, not very clean.

There are no plastic cups for use in the bathroom. And the wall thermostat had a mind of its own

Nice hotel, spacious with easy valet parking. Breakfast was a bit limited but convenient. Coffee not the best. Central to good bars and restaurants nearby. Would definitely use again

Our stay was great, but we had to ask for a bar of soap and an ice bucket. I think those should have already been in the room.

The room itself was okay but would have been nice to have the bins emptied and fresh towels at least once during the stay. Breakfast choices are limited and long waits for the one waffle making machine . The plastic cutlery makes it feel like a school canteen rather than a hilton group hotel. Coffee choices are good but usually only lukewarm warm . The hot water tastes like coffee and the water dispenser water tasted like tap water .

The hotel itself was nice and in a decent location downtown. The breakfast was good. The rooms were average but clean. The staff, however were not the friendliest. Upon check in I was not informed that it was valet parking and I don't recall seeing that online (maybe I missed it). I parked my own car. I had to come and go from the hotel for my son's activity and each time I parked my own car. The valet actually cussed me out and was very rude when I tried asking him a couple questions. I went to the front desk to complain and they were also rude and not helpful.

Clean room, super convenient location to Empire Live across the street. That was our main reason for staying so great for that!

We were told via the website that there was a shuttle to and from the airport. THERE WASN'T. As a result, when leaving to go home, I had to uber. The uber driver didn't understand English. He made me miss my flight; therefore, I had to spend another night at the hotel. Plus, I had to get another flight the next day costing more money than ever expected. I believe a shuttle service from the airport in the capital city of New York should be mandatory. Don't offer it, if it doesn't exist!
