DoubleTree by Hilton Charleston Riverview

We were giving a room that already had someone in there…TWICE. The 2nd room we went to, the guest was VERY UPSET and rightfully so. I was uncomfortable all weekend.

The staff was very helpful when recommending places to eat.

Blind was broken, safe didn't work, in room phone didn't work, coffee machine didn't work and the bathroom door broken. Asked to move rooms which they said we could in an hour and a half. Waiting for the time they said then returned to reception only to be told we now could move as no rooms available even though I could go on expedia and book multiple rooms for that night. Some of the reception staff tried to help but one guy with a long pony tail wanted to be as difficult as possible. Hotel could be basically decent but needs some work to get to the level you expect.

My daughter and I stayed for 2 nights while in Charleston for a concert. The rooms are very modern and very clean. The bed was comfortable. We felt safe the entire time.

Nice location 10 min away from downtowm. Parking $5 per night and they offer a free shuttle to downtown.

Nice room and mostly helpful staff. Really close to Folly Beach and the market.

We had a suite and the AC in the living room part didn't work. We reported it and was told maintenance would fix it. Came back a couple hours later and it still wasn't fixed. Asked for an update and was told they wouldn't be fixing it. Couldn't adjust a price or tell me if we switched rooms what the price difference would be because we booked through expedia. Expedia tried reaching out for us multiple times but hotel never answered the phone. Finally decided we would change rooms to double queen room so we would have AC. The room had ants and definitely had dogs or some other animals in it at some point because my throat was closing up. We finally just checked out early and rented at another hotel nearby. I normally don't leave bad reviews but this whole experience was ridiculous.

Great location. Easy to get to. Staff were helpful. Room was clean and spacious. Just what we needed.

The hotel was good and clean, staff was really nice and they had a restaurant downstairs. The pool was very small, not worth if you want a hotel with a pool for kids, this is not the one. I like the fact that they have a shuttle to take you down to Charleston downtown, that was a nice service :)

The people that work here remembered my name from my last trip! I was checked in on and helped through everything and this hotel is so clean and in the best location. I plan on coming back in a few months

Left a day early due to sewage smelling bar and dining g area, tv did not work, telephone in room did not work, and the gas line by the pool is could smell of gas was strong . At least they were not turned on or it was would be super dangerous. The personnel and manager were wonderful their hands were tied. I need a refund. It was very bad experience.

Our room had no hot water. When we said something to the staff, they said they would send someone to fix but never did. We only lasted one night of a 4 night stay because we needed hot water to shower. Since it was non refundable we are out 800.00 . Also they have sliding barn doors on the bathroom that are incredibly loud and couldn’t sleep because of the noise. I do not recommend this hotel at all.

During this stay, the elevator was broken twice. Initially, immediately after check in, it was broken and I carried my bags to the 3rd floor. Then, 2 days later it was broken again. Upon arrival in my room, I noticed the large ottoman was down right filthy, and the bathroom mirror frame was broken. I took pictures and notified the front desk thinking the ottoman would be clean, but it remained in the room during my entire stay, just as it was. I moved it to the corner of the room and put a towel over it in order to not look at it. When using the sink or shower, it had to be turned on 10 minutes prior to actually using it, just to have hot water. So again, for a Premium & Full Service Hilton property, the stay at this location did not meet my expectations, which was disappointing.

Elevators were broken twice while there. The floors were super slippery when I walked into my room. I almost hurt myself. No hot water in my sink.

Location was excellent to everywhere we wanted to go!

Loved the bar and Mark the bartender was very good.

Parking was Great, close to the Beach, Room service was nice and over all Great people and friendly to talk to! Had no problems stay was perfect!

I booked a room that supposedly had a view of the river. That was decidedly misleading, for only between some trees could you see a small patch of water. The rest of the view was a hotel next-door, and the wetland area that borders the river. The lobby felt like it was cooled by a “swamp cooler,“ not a central air-conditioning system. It was extremely uncomfortable. The pool itself is small and unattractively situated. A family using it found no towels, requested some as I stood at the front desk to register, and came back quite a while later still having received no towels. The room itself was OK, and one feature of the large television screen was SiriusXM music stations, which I thought was a nice touch. Though just outside of downtown, it was easy access, and there are some very cool things to check out in Charleston. The first restaurant we went to for lunch was called Ellis Fish Camp, was five minutes from the hotel, and really good, and also really quirky. Dinner was at a place a bit further away, but was unique and very good. That place is called SALTWATER COWBOYS, and has rooftop seating with a commanding view and incredible sunsets. The Fort Sumter tour was astounding, and the biggest surprise was the international African-American Museum, a place I had no interest in visiting, but was deeply moved and educated after having done so. It is a beautiful facility, and absolutely fascinating, as well as disturbing, sad, illuminating and inspiring. See it.
