The location is hard to beat and the staff was very helpful. The gear locker is great for a day at the beach - chairs and a cooler are included in the resort fee. However, for the rather large resort fee, the pool is so small for a building that size that it’s crowded all day, making it almost unusable, and their parking is more than twice the price of a city garage. Little touches of cleanliness were absent - the hallway had the same dirt piles for days and the water dispensers had filters in need of changing the entire time we were there. Rooms are smaller than our friends had staying in nearby boutique hotels. Overall, location is the selling point, but other than that, I wouldn’t stay there again.

This place was amazing! Beautiful property and tasteful rooms, quiet hotel but with a great pool, lounge and bar/restaurant. In the best part of the city too! Staff was great, and the beach towels and beach chairs to take to the beach were a great bonus!

This is by far my favorite hotel! Great location and amenities! Pool is a bit crowded and I wish they would keep closer track to “guests only” but will a great location

We had an absolutely phenomenal time staying at the Ryder. We feel in love with the property and the town. Highly recommend staying here for a unique boutique experience. We mentioned in briefly that it was my husband's birthday trip and they sent a bottle of champagne on ice. They were so accommodating and lovely. I will definitely go back to the Ryder. The only downside the the pool area is pretty small with limited seating, but overall it was a great time. :)

My husband and I came for a getaway. We had a very nice stay. The room was nice, staff was helpful, the pool was fun and the location was perfect. Downsides: the door to the room and the wall facing the hallway were thin and the room doors close loudly, which made it noisy at night. The parking is also valet only and $$$. Would still consider returning.

Good stay over all. The hotel location is very convenient. The rooms are clean and spacious and comfortable beds. I would have loved a better food options at the bar/restaurant by the pool but the hotel is very cute. And I loved they had filter water fountains on each floor to refill our water bottles. Just please change the filter! It was red -.YOu do need filtered water in Charleston. The water does not taste good at all so you need this filtration fountains. thank you. Overall great stayed! :)

Strange and confusing layout. Shower didn’t work well, pool was not super clean and overall found it to be overpriced for what you get.

We were first timers to Charleston, so take this review with that in mind. This hotel is in a good location and very walkable to everything. It's also one of the rare historic district hotels with a pool, although the pool is quite small and fills up VERY fast. The hotel also seemed to cater to a younger crowd with a DJ in the restaurant every night blasting music until 10pm outside our window. We saw a giant cockroach scurry across the pool area from the Little Palm restaurant, and we all know there isn't just one cockroach by itself! This made us wonder if that's why the Little Palm had wide open availability compared to most places nearby that were booked solid. The hotel in general is clearly going for like a California beach vibe, which it captured fairly well, but it needs some work. The carpet in the hallway was pretty dingy and beyond saving with a steam clean. Ceiling tiles in the hallway were drooping or fall off. The room was acceptable had we paid about 50%-60% of what it cost us to stay there. The shower had a bunch of mold in the grout and caulking. The mattress is not what you'd consider "soft and comfortable", but rather like sleeping on a pile of cardboard boxes folded up. I really don't like writing reviews like this, but we were so underwhelmed with this property that it felt appropriate to give others a heads up. We had very different expectations for the level of quality we'd be getting compared to the price that it cost us for this stay!

This hotel was in a great location, super cool, and a fun vibe ! -Clean and very nice rooms. The staff, only one in particular, a guy checking me in, was not helpful. But I would stay here again for sure !

Second time at the Ryder, love the location, the vibe and hanging poolside!
-
The staff was very friendly, it is located in a great area.

It’s pretty Rude about the welcome drink could never find a place by the pool because they sell day passes

Located in close proximity to all of the attractions in the French Quarter. We were able to walk to everything. The property itself was so quaint and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great in the restaurant too and it was so nice to end our day with a dip in the pool. We highly recommend.

I would say that the Ryder exceeded every expectation I had. I booked through Expedia which I do not normally do. The hotel still honored an early check in (room was ready before 1) and gave us a food and beverage credit without me asking. The room was well equipped and impeccably clean. It was a great stay and would highly recommend!

location, cleaniness, pool bar, ease of use. Coffee shop. easy to walk to a lot. it was gorgeous. room was extra small. pool was smaller than we thought. staff were very very nice, but a few times for normal things made us feel like they were new or didnt know basic questions like where can we get water or something to fill up water that is provided on the floors. checkin they couldnt find us and said it was under a wrong name, but my print out listed our correct name for confirmation.

The room and bathroom were spacious, the staff was helpful, and amenities (pool, bar, coffee shop) were amazing. You can walk to all of the hot spots with ease.
