The old world charm and thoughtful art and design interventions. WiFi was really awful which required one to move around to different venues within the property to catch a signal. The pool could have been bigger and more useable .

Location, food at the restaurant Room was too small for the price we paid. Bed was horribly small.

I have always stayed at Malabar House for any trip to Kochi when it is available. It is one of the most elegant and lovely small spots to unwind and enjoy some respite before venturing into town. The breakfast is superb, as is all meals, as well as the service--always terrific. The presence of art (and artists) is an added bonus along with the laidback charm and feel of a private bungalow. Be aware that it now takes more than an hour to reach the airport because of traffic--but this should not deter anyone from staying and visiting wonderful Kochi!

The property is small, intimate and very well suited. Ann Marie at the front desk is truly exceptional. Street noise due to a political event coming (one night)

Property was nice. Rooms were really nice. Pool was rather disappointing. Also had an incident with a staff member walking in unannounced. We were in the back of the room and he knocked, we didn’t hear and he walked in. He should have called or there should be a do not disturb sign or something. Instead of apologizing and appearing bad, they gave a justification for coming in. It was an embarrassing situation and we were disappointed in their reaction. Really, a simple do not disturb would work wonders.

A wonderful experience at this charming and beautiful hotel. What sets it apart is the people. Excellent hospitality from all staff, especially Aparna and manager Vinesh who went above and beyond to also advise and assist to next leg of our journey. Wonderful breakfast. Easy walking access to the fort, local businesses and eateries.

I absolutely loved Malabar House! My room was beautiful, the staff was very attentive, and the breakfast was excellent! I am only sorry our stay here was so short. Nothing - no complaints whatsoever
-
The room was quirky and arty with a traditional high bed that there were steps to help one climb into. Staff were pleasant, if inept, and after much persuasion managed to source a cushion cover I particularly liked from a sister hotel, at a hefty price! Really fell very short of what is expected from a Relais et Chateaux property. we arrived late and were shown to a room with a door that was almost impossible to close/open. The reception were aware and said it was a bit tricky. They made no effort to rectify until we expressly requested it was seen to, whereupon it was dealt with straight away! The dinner was very poor. Prawn biryani with no flavour or spice, vegetable thali similarly tasteless. The extensive wine list was mostly unavailable. Breakfast was very limited, and the service very poor. Things came in a totally haphazard manner, one morning we had no coffee till we'd finished eating. The waiters had no training in how to provide good service. The 'pool' was the size of a postage stamp, immediately behind the reception desk, where the main pastime of the staff was swatting mosquitoes with the bug racquet, and it would be better described as a pond. There were 4 sunloungers available, cheek by jowl with the dining tables.

Lovely staff, superb location and beautiful layout. The swimming pool was a definite bonus on a humid end of January visit. The evening meal whilst more than acceptable took a long time to come. Also the wine choices were pretty poor but then again you don't visit India for its wine. The outdoor terrace evening ambiance was lovely
