Beachfront Palms Resort Galveston, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Do not book this place. It looked like a run down motel. The only good thing about it were the staff they were very polite. For it being so close to the water you would think it would have been well maintained.

If you want budget friendly, this place is definitely it. However, there were issues. 1st one being, the mattress was by far one of the worst and hardest mattresses Ive ever had at any hotel Ive stayed at, so hard, I barely slept. Bring a mattress topper , I promise, you need it! 2nd- tub had a drainage issue, my feet were sitting in water every time I showered. 3rd- the shower half worked because the knob wouldn’t fully come up- the faucet to the tub felt like it was going to break any time you pulled on it because it was loose from the shower wall. The pool lounge chairs need replacing, half of them are torn and the others had bird poop all over them. I pulled the sheets back- last day and found hair that didn’t belong to me- which tells me they didnt change the sheets- my fault- i should have definitely checked this on day one! Anyways- other than that- I wouldn’t stay here again.

The staff are completely rude. Check-in is at 4:00 my room wasn’t cleaned and ready till 5:00. The hotel is not up to date at all. The pictures are completely misleading. The shower heads spray water everywhere and the rods are falling out of the wall. The swimming pool was disgusting, the lounge chairs are full of bird poop as well as many being torn. We saw cockroaches at the pool as well. The elevator never worked or worked very poorly where you don’t know if the door is gonna open or you are going to a stuck. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed at.

It’s definitely an older hotel. The pool was cloudy. The elevator didn’t work, and the mini fridge in our room didn’t work. I had to fix the door handle so our front door would shut and lock. Overall, I will not stay there again.

Rooms were clean. The beds were comfy. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was awesome!!!! They have a designated smoking area. Very pet friendly.

The elevator didn’t work by lobby and taking the stairs to the 3rd floor, was not good. Our room smelled like bug spray. Electricity went out in bathroom area. Buffet wasn’t good, stale food.

The staff were great! Very friendly and helped with all my questions. Enjoyed our breakfast each morning, and there was always somewhere to sit. It was a great little break right across from the beach.

Everything was just expected for a property right on the seawall. Room was great price fot what is included. They even had free popcorn. Husband complained the water never got hot. I rather warm and hot water then having only cold.Over all pur five days there were great. Planning on my next stay.

What’s not great: facility is not well maintained. Elevators feel like they’re on the brink of breaking, and are hot, smelly and dirty. Laundry facilities were full every time I checked. No detergent available. Rooms are old, cramped and the maintenance has not been kept up. Fridge didn’t seal, fan in bathroom would not turn off. It wasn’t a bad stay, but I will not return. Staff were friendly enough. Housekeepers were great! It’s a “resort“ but truly it’s just a motel.

Good Breakfast

Location was great, next to ice cream parlor and 3 minutes from Walmart BUT rooms were not deeply cleaned and we called the maintenance man for help with our microwave he did a janky fix then said “Good enough for me”

Breakfast was good and the refilled often. Room did not have hot water. When asked was told to tap the handle and it would get hot. It never did. Water was lukewarm. Left items behind and when called was told they couldn’t find them. Items were left behind on bathroom door. Would not recommend to others.

I got this stay for my grand son. They liked it.

A/C needs interview or something it feels like suffocating in there, the pool is very visibly not well maintained. Clean room, kind front desk staff, tons of parking.

Had some roaches in the room other the. That is was ok

Also we did not have hot water the entire time and I called twice!

This hotel is right across Seawall Drive from a good beach and walking distance to some restaurants and ice cream. The pool area is beautiful with palm trees surrounding it. I wish they had an outdoor shower near or in the pool area to clean off after the beach. Our beds were very comfortable and the room had been cleaned, but just needs a deep clean. The toilet seat was warped and needs replacing and the toilet was hard to flush- we had to hold it down for a few minutes and then jiggle the handle to stop the water from running. Breakfast was great with very tasty hot options as well as cold and a lot of seating options nearby.

The room was clean . The staff was friendly when asked about area. The hotel is pet friendly,and all the folks there were friendly. After spending the night the breakfast was good. They also had coffee before breakfast opened. Beach is across the the street. Easy to walk to . Great location. We had a very nice stay.
