Friendly staff, facility clean. The only we disliked was that there was only one washing machine on premise on a first come first serve basis. Hotel staff does laundry for guests for a fee.
-
It was perfectly located, close to everywhere we wanted to go. Clean, comfortable, traditional yet modern all at the same time. I would recommend this place to anyone going to Kyoto. Nothing to complain about. It was great!
-
Its cleanliness, the helpful staff, the facilities and my room, I booked a traditional room with tatami floor and futon bed and it was the best experience, being able to enjoy the amenities like wearing a Yukata was exceptional. Also, a really good breakfast. The bartender was great, I had a small sake tasting and he was so helpful and providing recommendations. The hotel is so well located that you can walk to a lot of places or go to a close station to move. Nothing really, it was that good experience.

We had a wonderful experience. Everything, from the staff, to the room and to the shared areas, were up to the expectations.

facility was great location was great we had a good time nothing

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing in several ways. There was an unpleasant smell both in the hallway outside our room and inside the room itself. We stayed for three nights, and throughout the entire stay it was difficult to breathe comfortably and sleep because of the odor. The room also did not seem to have good ventilation. Another issue was the beds. They kept sliding apart during the night, and at one point my husband almost fell onto the floor because the beds separated unexpectedly. We informed the front desk about the terrible smell in our room, but unfortunately no action was taken. The staff apologized, but the problem was not resolved or investigated further. As for breakfast, we found it to be quite basic and not worth the extra cost. Since there are many excellent restaurants, cafés, and bakeries nearby, we would recommend eating outside the hotel instead. While the hotel has a great location and a charming Japanese atmosphere, the odor in the room and the lack of a solution from the staff significantly affected our stay.

Beautifully crafted rooms and experiences, true to traditional practices.Situated centrally, close to public transport, markets and yet in a quiet neighborhood.

Japanese breakfast was delicious and the dining area with the red cedar tables was very nice. Also front desk staff were always willing to help with questions. Location to some good dining options that you can walk to. Maybe this is normal, but the mattresses were pretty hard. A little more padding would have been more comfortable.

Was not easy to sleep, but this what we wanted to try.

The rooms and location were good.

Knowledgeable and helpful staff! First time sleeping on futons and tatami mats; loved the flexibility of how to use the room. Great location and awesome recommendations for where to eat!!!
-
The staff could have given us a tour of the facility. We didn't know they had the replica "tori gates" on the other side of the building until the day we checked out. We missed out on that photo op!
-
We had the smaller tatami room for one night before moving to a larger suite for the rest of our stay. The futons were more comfortable than I had initially thought. Staff was very kind.

Great location and very helpful and friendly staff.
-
The place is simply beautiful, decorated in very traditional fashion, and the staff were incredibly attentive and nice. Great breakfast, and fantastic location.
-
Loved the traditional style and the gardens
-
Rooms are a little too small for 4 adults
-
Great location for restaurants, walking, and transportation.

There was just a bit of dust in some spots. As an allergic person to dust, this little aspect can be improved ?

Rooms were very nice, the Japanese style room I had was outstanding, with roof access. The cultural immersion program was fun and informative. The package included Japanese style baths with were so extremely relaxing after hard days of sightseeing so I did them twice. It’s a little far to walk to the nearest metro and train stations, so you have to allow a bit more time. The morning breakfast should offer a few more choices than just coffee and juice, they should include some bread or cereal because the set meal portions are a little small. Cable TV should have a few more English choices.
