Great location and very helpful staff!

The hotel was very centrally, located walking distance to the beach and to restaurants. Breakfast was decent and served on patio that’s inside outside which was very nice. There’s a popular Italian restaurant on the property that was well attended by guest beyond the hotel. I was disappointed that there was not a pool at the hotel. Based on my price per night, I expected a higher quality property and it felt more like a Best Western or Holiday Inn inside.

Large rooms very clean and a great location

Great location. Clean. Breakfast included Bathroom door is not a door. Lacks privacy. Breakfast very mid.

Additionally, they no longer offer valet parking or assist with luggage. I’m accessible and needed to solicit help from other guests in hotel. They did allow me to park in basement of hotel near door to hotel.

The first room I was in the toilet didn’t work. Then they agreed to put me in another room with an ac unit duct taped to the window. Then they refused to talk to me about it. It wasn’t the worst hotel but I should have just gone with the grande colonial.

Location is perfect. Everything including shops, restaurants, La Jolla cove and the Cave store is walkable. The bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was impressive and the parking is about as easy as it comes!! A fantastic stay.

The room was roughly $400 a night. I would stay there again, but she was a higher floor if possible. I think it is one of the better choices to be near the walkable places you would enjoy in La Jolla Village.

Cons: There is a mildew type smell throughout the hotel. We were on the 4th floor and as soon as the elevator opened, the smell was prominent. The smell continued into the room. The room was clean and furnishings were not outdated, but the bathroom showed a lot of wear and tear and there was no water pressure in the shower. They charge a daily $15 resort fee for their included breakfast buffet, which looked disappointing, but I never tried it. All in all, I don't know how to feel about the hotel. It was not overly expensive and I wasn't expecting a 4 or 5 star hotel, but for the price, I was hoping it would meet a Courtyard Marriott level of quality. However, it missed that mark as well.

Warning: The price you see on Expedia is not the price that you pay. They add an additional fee that was not listed on the Expedia page (the manager himself could not find it). This only became apparent after I paid via credit card. The staff then argued with me for a facilities fee or something of the like, which is essentially a bait and switch, and highly dishonest. This may be corrected now, but I am sure the additional fees will be buried in the fine print. There is nothing like arriving after a long trip to find out your hosts are trying to rip you off, and then blame it on you. Great hospitality guys.

    Very poor

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

out of .I like the low-key vibe throughout, but I also appreciate the unexpected and nice details that confirm that I made the right choice in La Jolla. La Valencia is lovely but significantly more expensive. Also checking in and out and parking are a bigger deal.
