Grand Plaza Hotel and Congress Centre

Close to old town. Very clean hotel with all the amenities. Breakfast is awesome. Room AC didn’t work well. It was hot during the day and the AC ran all night but didn’t really cool the room.

Clean rooms, good location. This hotel has a really warped sense of what five stars is. The AC in our room was not cooling and we spent most of the evening sweating. They offered a fan but that is not sufficient for what we paid for the night. They offered a downgraded room as well where the AC barely cooled. We were not offered any compensation due to booking through the booking.com platform—which is a shame, as that is the least they can do. All in all, would not stay here again and did not feel any sense of hospitality. The staff was really cold for the most part. We waited over an hour after reporting the AC issue to the front desk. They had no technician on hand to help alleviate the issue until the morning either, which after they came, the temperature remained high. It was cooler outside in Ljubljana than in the hotel room.

Friendliness

The hotel enjoys an outstanding location within walking distance of Ljubljana Old Town, Tivoli Park, and the central bus station, making it very convenient for both sightseeing and transportation. We would also like to extend special recognition to Demir at the reception desk. He was exceptionally welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout our stay, and his hospitality contributed greatly to our positive experience. The only minor issue we encountered was with the housekeeping schedule, as room cleaning was often performed later in the afternoon. Earlier housekeeping service would have been more convenient for guests returning to their rooms during the day. The weather during our visit was unusually hot, and the air conditioning system was working at its maximum capacity. While we were ultimately able to remain comfortable, stronger cooling during periods of extreme heat would further enhance the guest experience. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would gladly recommend the hotel to anyone visiting Ljubljana.
