The staff were friendly. I have never left a bad review of a hotel but unfortunately there were too many things which need to be addressed. On arrival we were upgraded to a suite which we thought was nice as it was our wedding anniversary. The whole hotel is in need of an upgrade. Everywhere is looking very tired and worn. Our room was on the third floor so we used the very small lift and then some stairs to get to our room. I would not like to be stuck in the lift! Our room was a good size but that was the best point. The breakfast was ok but some very strange choices on the menu and very few pastries or yoghurts. The breakfast staff were very nice. The water in the room was warm.The fridge did not work which we reported and was told to use the fridge on the ground floor as the fridge was broken. How do you give someone a room in this heat with no fridge! The electric sockets got warm when using them. I've never seen a bathroom like the photos below. No coat hangers for trousers so we had to leave some clothes on the back of a chair. Needless to say I do not recommend this hotel and if I had not already paid we would have found a hotel elsewhere.

The staff at Hotel La Place were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly and made to feel at home. Their kindness helped create a lovely atmosphere throughout our stay. I also appreciated the thoughtful touch of a large pitcher of fresh water with slices of lemon available at reception- a very welcome addition during the warm weather. We stayed in Room 301, which was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. The mattress was firm, which suited us perfectly, and the room was tastefully decorated. The complimentary toiletries were lovely, and the air conditioning was both effective and quiet throughout the night, making for a very comfortable stay. The breakfast was excellent, with a good selection of both hot and cold options, including a full English breakfast, cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, toast, and a good variety of hot and cold drinks. The breakfast staff were cheerful, attentive, and very helpful. The hotel's location was ideal for our needs. It is only around a seven-minute walk from Baker Street station, making it easy to explore London by Tube. There are plenty of restaurants, cafés, shops, and convenience stores nearby, so whether we wanted a quick snack or a three-course meal, everything was within easy walking distance. Despite this, the hotel is situated on a quiet side street, giving you all the convenience without the noise. The hotel also offers a 24-hour wine bar and 24-hour reception, which, although we didn't use the bar ourselves, was reassuring to have available. We also appreciated that guests can leave their luggage at the hotel before check-in or after check-out if travelling later in the day. This customer-focused approach reflects the hotel's excellent service and commitment to its guests. Our only minor criticism was that the water pressure in the shower was a little low. It certainly wasn't a major issue, as we were still able to shower comfortably; it simply took a little longer than usual.

Room was excellent and allowed me to work from my room inbetween meetings and events. Location was good for where I needed to be over the three days, and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was average considering the money paid for the stay, on comparison with similar hotels I have stayed in London. Also in a heatwave there could have been more water/drinks available or even a free drink available at the bar as complimentary.
