I loved the historic building, the restaurant and details everywhere. The bed was too low, not very comfortable. Otherwise the room and bathroom were spacious and well equiped.

Atmospheric and lovely features Little dark - we were in rm 248 which had 2 steps leading down to bedroom area which wasn’t ideal and could cause a hazard falling. Lighting in the room was a bit dark

Beautiful old building and location with lovely staff. The renovation/modernisation is a bit soulless and shabby in places.

Convenient for the Eurostar; there was a pool - small but that’s all I was looking for. Reception staff - very pleasant and friendly, but didn’t explain the lifts to me (a fellow guest had to show me), gave me the wrong opening times for the pool, didn’t explain about other things available to me Waiting staff - a couple were ok, nothing special, but kind of did their jobs. One male waiter was unfriendly and unhelpful, actually discourteous when I went up to him to ask how I should pay (I’d expect in a place like that I wouldn’t have to go looking for someone) I have since apparently been overcharged for a light meal and glass of wine I had - about £75 added to my bill for that. I haven’t had time yet to take that up with the hotel, but that will be a pain to get sorted, and added to the pain of paying £485 for a meh experience. In the morning, staff seemed surprised that I had a train to catch, and while smiley, weren’t helpful about getting me some breakfast in a timely fashion. I didn’t want anything wonderful, just normal service in the circumstances. My reading now is, poor training, probably poor management. The pool was in as a spa pool, but the towels were hard to find, thin and distinctly grey (beyond their natural beige). Odd, at that price. The room was nothing special, the lighting was poor, there was nowhere to place my suitcase so I could pack. The charging point was far from the bed. Generally, I’ve had warmer better service and pleasanter stays in a motorway motel for £60 a night.

Great location Staff weren’t that helpful and the room wasn’t clean. Floor looked like it hadn’t been hoovered

A wonderful historic building, beautifully refurbished. All staff were polite and friendly without being "over the top" (it felt genuine). Loved the 2 little talks about different alcoholic beverages (which ended with a complimentary taster of the drink!) Our shower room looked amazing but, as is often the case with great looking bathrooms, the shower water pressure wasn't the greatest (we were in a loft room). We would have preferred a buffet style breakfast - in the restaurant everything was served at your table - fortunately we went to breakfast early so had the time to wait (we had a Eurostar to catch). It would have been useful to know that in advance.

It was close to my Eurostar train. A very small room, not worth the price I paid. Very disappointed! I wouldn't book again.

Everything location to train station. Staff were welcoming and always with a smile. Upgraded to a junior suite at no extra cost.
