YHA London Central - Hostel

I really like this hostel, for its cleanliness, the staff, and excellent location

Superb

The location is unbeatable—being able to walk to Oxford Street, Soho, and Regent's Park saved me so much time and money on the Tube, plus Great Portland Street and Oxford Circus stations are just minutes away. The facilities are modern and spotlessly clean; the self-catering kitchen was fully equipped and a huge plus for saving on meals, while the cafe/bar on the ground floor had a great atmosphere. The 24/7 reception made check-in smooth, staff were very helpful, and key-card access along with secure lockers made the place feel very safe. Exceptional value for money in Zone 1 during peak July. The room got quite hot during peak July since there was no air conditioning. The window couldn't be opened wide enough to properly air the room out, and sleeping just with the fan was rather uncomfortable due to the heat.

Location is great and value for money is high. The dorms are spacious and the bathrooms are clean. Capricious AC, difficult to sleep on the first night. Fixed (by us) after that.

This is awsome

I am very disappointed with this experience and will not stay at a YHA hostel again. During the booking process, the price displayed to me was around £130 for one night. When I proceeded with the booking, it was confirmed at £224 for the night. I noticed the difference immediately and contacted YHA straight away to request cancellation. Their response was simply that they would not cancel the booking because it was non-refundable. As a result, we ended up paying £224 for one night in a hostel, sleeping on bunk beds with extremely uncomfortable plastic-covered mattresses. I would have considered £130 reasonable for what was provided, but £224 is simply not worth it. On top of the already very high price, even the towels were an extra charge of £3.50 each, meaning another £14 for four towels. What disappointed me most was not just the price, but YHA’s complete unwillingness to help when I reported the discrepancy immediately. I contacted them within minutes of making the booking, yet they refused to cancel or offer any solution. I have stayed in hostels before and understand that this is budget accommodation, but the price should reflect the standard of what you are getting. At £224 per night, this was extremely poor value for money. After this experience, I will not be staying at another YHA hostel.

Very good

Very central location and close to tube station and bus lines. Easy walk to Oxford street, Piccadilly Circus and SoHo. Nice breakfast for £8.90 plus other items There isn’t anything that i didn’t like. It’s a Hostel so it won’t have real comfy beds. But the price is exceptional for London!

The central location and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. The kitchen and adjacent dining area is cramped and dreary.

A typical hostel, everything was pretty much as expected. The staff at the front counter were really excellent though. Very kind and helpful if you need anything. Also the location was awesome. Also just a heads up because I didn't catch this on other reviews -- there are lockable cages underneath the beds, so bring a lock if you want to secure your valuables. I was on the 5th floor at the beginning of August and it was very hot at night, but there isn't much the hostel can do except refit with AC. They did offer a fan, but it was still very hot.

The guy at reception was super friendly and professional. The location is fantastic and very convenient for exploring central London on foot.

Well-located - very central London and you have a number of tube options to choose from. The female dorm room was decently spaced and all people were very respectful and nice. They have air conditioning and fans in some rooms to regulate the temperature so it wasn't too hot. Some nice staff. They say it is a fully-equipped kitchen but they don't have an oven, plus the microwaves are quite ancient. Plus no freezer for guests. There was no laundry facilities onsite. You have to pay for any add-ons that some hostels offer for free like baggage storage. Not too sociable of a hostel as most people come in groups of families so they stay to themselves. 7 day maximum stay.

Amazing hostel in Central London! Philip and Queen were super helpful members of staff and great to talk to. They were happy to accomodate for our requests about the room. The location is perfect as you can reach central London with a short walk. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. I'll be coming back!

Good

YHA is very central to everything from bus stops, cafes, restaurants and even the city centre. It is very clean, with a nice ambience and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Nothing that I can't think of.
