The only shining star of this place was that it was relatively clean and there was typically toilet paper (but sometimes even this ran out). Breakfast was supposed to be included but it wasn't. They don't offer that. Unfortunately, that was the reason why I even chose to stay there. Further, the "women's room" is actually a loft separated by a door, but they are connected with the same ceiling and technically in the same room so it's like 12+ beds and therefore you get all the noise of all the people in the mega-room. Lastly, the walls are incredibly thin and it was SO noisy with all the club music outside, I couldn't sleep either of the nights I was there during a weekend. Further, the hostel is tucked into a dark part of El Poblado and there were literally 5+ prostitutes lined up on the street the hostel was on. I felt very unsafe as a petite woman walking back to my hostel at night.

    Can be a bit warm

Female dorm - as mentioned in other reviews, one woman was playing music loudly on her speakers. She does this late every night. When I asked her to use headphones, she completely ignored me. The woman at reception did not help at all and even laughed at me. Other guests were also taking phone calls without headphones. No one closed the door properly, even though our belongings were in the room, showing little concern for security. Other reviews showed theft. One girl even got upset with me simply because I closed the door on my way out while she was elsewhere. These girls seem to be long-term residents and occupy most of the space, yet no action is taken to enforce basic rules or respect shared living etiquette. I was supposed to stay four more nights but decided to leave and stay somewhere else. It was also advertised as an 8-person dorm, but in reality it is a two-level layout within one large open room. While there are 8 beds on the first floor, there are additional beds on the second floor, and since it is one big shared space, you can hear everyone on both levels.

And no help from the staff

  • Engine customer Dec 2025

Unfortunately, the hostel was extremely noisy. On both sides of the building there are bars or nightclubs, and during the weekend the music was playing until around 4:00 a.m. The noise was so loud that my room was literally vibrating from the music. It made it very difficult to rest or sleep properly. If you are looking for a quiet place, especially on weekends, this may not be the best option.

Great location and overall a decent stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. However, keep in mind that the area is surrounded by nightlife and party bars, so it gets pretty loud at night. I’d recommend it for solo travelers or those looking to enjoy the local scene, but not ideal if you’re looking for peace and quiet. Everything was generally decent — the staff, cleanliness, and location were all good. The only downside was that nearby bars played music until around 3:30 a.m., but that’s pretty typical for the area since it’s right in the heart of the nightlife.

24-hour reception Simple but good rooms Plenty of sockets Quiet enough in a party street The room smelled of chemical cleaning stuff.

Extremely friendly and helpful staff .. couldn't ask for a better location, clean place and comfortable. Great value for money. Would definitely recommend it.

The room was not like described, bad beds, no hot water. The hostel is next to a club and you can HEAR EVERYTHING. They made me sign documents at 2 am, when i git back from a night with friends.

Great location in Medellín. The room was nice and the bath and toilet facilities are great too. Nice staff. Very noisy music from the street. It was hard to fall asleep. The music didnt stop until 4 am. Ear plugs recommended!

Good location, close to the zone with all the bars and clubs, and near to many tour pick-up points. The beds had sockets and curtains for privacy. The staff were lovely and very helpful and I'd stay there again. They sell water and other useful items at the front desk. It was a little dusty and they were doing renovations so I was placed into a room with a different spec than booked. The windows in my dorm didn't close so it was very noisy at night. As it was low season I only shared my dorm with one other person during my short stay.

The room was very hot, the beds were very hard like a rock and the room was very small.

"Staying at Hostal Lleras Calle 8 was a fantastic experience! The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of Poblado, just a few blocks from Parque Lleras. The rooms were spotless, and the staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The hostel was surprisingly quiet given its central location, Salsa Bar just a few steps away. it’s the perfect spot for anyone looking to explore Medellín’s nightlife while having a clean and secure place to come back to. Highly recommended for budget travelers!" No elevator

Good location and friendly staff We’ve got a room that wasn’t the category that we had booked. The room was in front of the lobby and to the street. It couldn’t get any louder and there’s no way you open the window before 4 am, while there’s no AC. All in all we’ve got a room that is actually not a rentable room. The lady in the reception was very kind and understanding, but explained that the house was full and she couldn’t give us another room.

    Exceptional

Windows are not sound proof! Owners' should definitely change those windows.

  • Engine customer May 2024

I felt very confortable/safe. The noice at night. Windows should be soundproof as well as the curtains.

  • Engine customer May 2024

The hostel was clean and the staff were super helpful and kind. The kitchen is well equiped and kept very clean too. It is in a party area which is great and safe but could be a bit noisy for someone wanting somewhere calm.
