Hôtel Masson
About Hôtel Masson
The Hôtel Masson is nestled in a quiet, leafy setting, and offers the experience of a charming, timeless stay in Montreux. An authentic Belle Epoque-style hotel with all modern comforts. It is located just a 5-minute walk from Chillon Castle. Overlooking Lake Geneva, the elegant and splendid building with its wisteria-covered balconies dates back to 1829 and is surrounded by a large garden with century-old trees. It is the oldest hotel in the region and a proud member of Swiss Historic Hotels. Its interior reflects the timeless elegance of bygone days. It features lounges furnished with original paintings and furniture dating back to the 19th century. A shaft of light floods the opulent granite staircase, and the oak parquet flooring adds to the Masson's nostalgic atmosphere. The charming rooms are unique, with picturesque furnishings and floral motifs. They are equipped with contemporary amenities, including a bathroom renovated in 2024, cable TV, Wi-Fi and a mini-bar. Some have a magnificent balcony overlooking the lake. The dining room features a large tiled stove and original Viennese chairs. Classic international cuisine is served in the evenings and most ingredients are sourced from local markets. A charming and elegant bar with a terrace overlooking the garden, the lake and the Swiss and French Alps, gives you the opportunity to relax from morning to night. The Hôtel Masson also has a small spa with a sauna. You can also relax on the sun loungers in the garden while admiring the view of the Alps and Lake Geneva. Veytaux-Chillon train station is just 820 feet from the Hôtel Masson. Private parking is available on site.

It is really pretty. Hosts were very friendly and accommodating. All of the stairs and no air conditioning. It is the oldest hotel in Montreux so one should not complain about air conditioning, I suppose. Also is up a hill so walking to hotel from bus stop was a hike up-hill.

The room worked perfectly for three adults, great view, nice to have bath and tub. It was very comfortable. Great location and the Riveria card was a big help with riding the bus, seeing museums, and riding the boats. I don’t have anything to comment on didn’t like, we enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful room and the view is good. Nothing

It is not looking at all like on the pictures... Some rooms are much different and not that classy.
-
Excellent view, lots of space in room, lots of storage in room, staff was very friendly and accomodating. Breakfast was a cold one, not hot. Location was difficult to walk to with luggage using public transportation. Pillows were very flat, I had a sore neck.

They close their doors at 10pm

Very romantic interior Nothing

The stairway is a bit loud due to creaky wooden floors and can be heard easily from the room. However it was still very quiet at night, we slept very well and did not experienced any disturbance.

Wonderful historical charm.

The room was very clean. We stayed on the 3rd floor so we had a really good view and the hotel is only minutes from the city. Because the location was really good, we didn't spend a lot of time in the room. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The restaurant is very nice but can be very expensive. We stayed here as a family (wife and kids 3, 7, and 9) and the facility is not the best for young kids. Its very quiet which is a good thing but I felt like I had to keep my kids quiet the whole time which can be difficult. This isn't the worst thing if you are traveling as just adults. Besides the quiet, the floors do creak every time you walk. Also our shower was broken. The door was very hard to close and when tried it came off its hinges and almost fell.
-
Historical charm, balcony with lake view for our double room. Our daughter’s single room had a balcony as well. This quaint hotel is close to the castle. The dinner was delicious and the ladies packed us a breakfast for the next morning, as we had an early departure. The service was splendid. Nothing

Really nice hotel with Belle Epoque atmosphere.
-
Unfortunately there was a heat wave during our stay and we were in an attic room and the hotel, being very historic, has no AC.
-
Very attractive and interesting hotel. It is the oldest continually operating hotel in the region but upgrades in beds and bathrooms made it very comfortable.
-
Great location. An easy walk to the lakeside and castle. Breakfast we very good.

This is beautiful old hotel - emphasis on old. Beautiful parquet floors that creek with every step (in your room and hallway). You can hear people in adjoining rooms, which is to be expected in an historic property. Food was delicious and room was comfortable.

Old style hotel with a soul. I enjoyed the interior decoration and will definitely stay here again if I ever return to Montreux. The breakfast was served in a beautiful room. I have nothing to complain about this hotel. Although not on the city center, it was easy to get to with the tram. One climbs a steep hill, however it was refreshing and the view over the mountains and the lake was spectacular.

Room: clean, cute, nicely decorated. Breakfast - pastries, fruits, yogurts, cold cuts. Not a great variety but enough. Hotel provides parking (15CHF/night) which is very convenient. Walking distance to the lake and restaurants. Walls are thick (so almost no mobile internet) and wifi is too weak unfortunately. Beds are "old style" - cute but uncomfortable.

From the moment I walked through the hotel doors, it felt like I was being transported back in time. The hotel has a quiet, refined charm, being the oldest hotel in Montreux it has kept it's character throughout. Heading upstairs to check in, I was met by the loveliest lady who walked me to my bedroom to show me around and made sure I had everything I needed. I booked to dine in the restaurant that evening but it was very relaxed so I could turn up anytime between 1900-2000. When I arrived, there was a single table already set up for me. The food was outstanding, they put on a set menu which changes daily and the food really is of such a high standard. I sat out on the terrace towards the end of the evening to catch the sunset and the staff remained very attentive. When I checked out in the morning I was able to leave my bag so I didn't have to carry it around until I left. Nothing, I thoroughly enjoyed my entire stay and would definitely recommended this hotel to anyone coming to Montreux. I will be back as want to bring my partner next time.
