The late check in was not a pleasant experience but the café staff was polite. The rooms are clean but parking is a ness.

Everything was fine
-
It was great.

The cleanliness and comfort in the room were great, I like to stay at hotels in this brand. I did not expect to have to pay for parking which was $5 per day. The food with breakfast was fine but the sausage and bacon were highly overcooked. Also, on the second morning the juice machine was broken and no milk was available for cereal or drinking. I asked the dining worker if water was available and she said I could go pay for water at the front desk. I told her I was surprised that no fluids were available with the free breakfast. As I walked away she continued loudly chastising me across the room. The front desk did supply water.

I paid $1038 for 6 nights. That wasn't bad for that area. When I checked in they charged $50 per night "incedentals charge" another $300. I should have been informed of this before I booked the room. We had two small dogs under 10lbs each. Another $25 each dog per night. Another $300. Plus $5 per night for parking. So total i put out $1668. For 6 nights. I was told it would be refunded the $300 incidental fee when I checked out. It's been 5 days and no refund or communication as to why there was no refund. If I had know this place would cost me almost $1700 I would have stayed elsewhere, probably closer to the beach.

Later that evening at 10:30 PM when everyone was sleeping, the front desk called and said that I needed come down right away because someone had made a complaint about our dog barking and I said our dog is sleeping just like everyone else you have the wrong room I said. And the person said no, the complaint was made earlier. I said there were numerous fire alarms going off over and over repeatedly so I have a complaint about that and how your hotel handled that situation and my dog was affected and so was my mother-in-law. The person said that we needed to come down and sign some paperwork because they didn’t even have our phone number, what???!!! Mind you this was our second night there! Very unprofessional! We have never experienced anything like this before. The next morning we checked out.

Our first night there went really well. The staff was really friendly. They recommended a local restaurant which was wonderful. Our room was comfortable. The breakfast was good. We decided to stay a second night and that’s when we had problems. See the next review.

They should pay travelers to stay at this hotel. Staff looked at screens rather than helping patrons. Breakfast was a fly trap and food was awful. Pool water was cloudy. Very different than other Holiday Inns.
-
Didn't meet the Holiday Inn standard we are used to.

Good!
-
Older property. Expansive property. Signs of wear. Pool is very large. 2 warm hot tubs not hot but very large. Has to be difficult to manage and keep up.

Pros: The staff was consistently friendly and professional, the beds were very comfortable, the hotel was mostly quiet, the A/C worked well, and the location remains excellent—close to the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge, Mount Pleasant Pier, downtown Charleston, and area beaches. Cons: The bathrooms are showing their age, with a slow-draining sink. The water from both the sink and shower was hot, making it difficult to cool down after being outside in the summer. The complimentary infused water and cookies in the lobby are gone, and bottled water now costs $3.50. Breakfast is still free, but the quality and variety have declined. Parking now costs $5 per night. The outlet powering the mini fridge and microwave didn’t work during our stay. The location and staff remain the hotel’s greatest strengths, but improvements in operations, maintenance, and overall guest experience are needed to restore the quality this hotel once offered.

The room was huge and clean. It was absolutely beautiful
-
The check-in was very easy the front desk clerk was very helpful didn’t have biscuits or other choose like other ones did having to pay for parking was already paid more than the room was worth
-
We stayed on the first floor. This rooms next to us flooded during our stay and water was in the hallway. The pool was closed the whole 4 days due to sanitation reasons. The breakfast staff had shirts on that said don’t worry about my facial expressions when asking me questions. The third night we stayed a fight broke out and had cops in the lobby. We couldn’t change hotels due to booking by third party.
-
I had one pet peeve. They charge five dollars a night for parking... a money grab
