TRYP by Wyndham Newark Downtown

I stayed there to attend a World Cup game. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was close to Newark Penn Station and airport. Cannot comment about the food because did not eat there

The staff were nice and helpful, property very clean just would have liked a microwave and small fridge in my suite.

The fire alarm went off at 230 am, and kept going off, got no sleep so checked out early. The man at the desk won’t give us any money back on the room. Not worth the price for not being able to sleep

Never disappoints. A gem of a hotel

Staff wasnt helpful. The parking assistant was sketchy. Rooms was somewhat clean but had a terrible smell. Wouldn't recommend.

Clean and comfy!

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable (note it is very soft so if you need a firmer bed, find somewhere else). Check in and out was simple. The best part of the amenities was the transport to the airport. Our driver was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is older and it looks like it’s been retrofitted. The shower in our room was tiny and the grout was cracked and stained. The lights in every socket are bright white - there is no dimming or soft yellow/white. It’s clinical and jarring. The floor is linoleum with next to no carpeting - even around the bed. I wouldn’t pay more than 120$/night for the quality it offers. While it may not be an upscale hotel or resort, for a 200$+/night price tag, I expect a little more comfort. I’m not sure if this is typical of the Tryp brand, but if it is, we’ll be avoiding this line in the future.

This hotel was a gem. Close to NJPAC! WALKABLE restaurants. The food at the Hotel was very good and affordable. My room was clean and cozy.The staff was knowledgeable and courteous. Will stay here again in the near future.

Easy check in and check out. Easy walk to Penn Station. Breakfast was a bit expensive.

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was wonderful. The air conditioning was impeccable. The breakfast could have been a little better for the $20 price point but it got the job done. Definitely a 9.5 out of ten. You get more than your money worth when visiting this hotel.

AC did not work. Airport shuttle did not show up. Use Uber.

Overall, day time staff were lovely and very helpful. We would recommend getting the family room/larger room if available. The airport shuttle was also very convenient.

Exceptional

Location is walkable from Newark Penn, rooms are big, v clean. More affordable than NYCm Not much in the vicinity. Bar closed at 10.00 - in the summer, during the world cup.

Very good

The hotel itself felt like a bit of a diamond in the rough. It was well kept and clean throughout, which was appreciated. The staff and general upkeep gave the impression that they do a good job maintaining the property. However, the rooms were clearly older and carried that dated feel, even though they were still clean and functional. The surrounding area is where the experience loses some points. In the evening, the area felt sketchy and not particularly comfortable for walking around. There also aren’t many dining options or convenient stores nearby, which limits flexibility if you need something outside of the hotel. There is a restaurant directly next door that we relied on for coffee and snacks during the day, which was very convenient. However, once it closed in the evening, dining options became limited, and we were essentially left with the more expensive restaurant inside the hotel.

Large, clean rooms with super comfy bed. Great property.
