Microtel Inn by Wyndham Newport News Airport

I asked that I not be disturbed on Thursday ( I was staying from Wednesday-Sunday) only bc I was working they took that as no house keeping services the entire time, but this could be chalked up to miscommunication. The room while being a dated property was not clean, there were what appeared to be make up stains on the pillow cases, the floor looked like it hadn’t been sept or mopped, there was a smear on the wall that appeared from A bug being killed, the tiny fridge was disgusting and I would never place anything in there. The seals were covered in dirt and mildew. There was only one outlet for charging devices and it was an extremely lose outlet. The bathroom was clean, and most of the towels. I had luckily brought my own cleaning supplies and was able to wipe surfaces I would use. The ac was on but did not cool the room, there was still a huge humidity problem In the room. Turning down the temperature did not help. Since I was only in the room to sleep really it was manageable, but I would not rebook at this location with out severe upgrades and cleanliness improvements

Everything was very good but it would be nice to have a couple of chairs to sit in.

I booked this place off the reviews and it was so bad !!! Run down big time except for the bathroom which was dirty in the corners bad ! Dead cockroach by the fridge and the bed was so bad .. elevator was BROKEN and we were on the 2nd floor ! The halls and stairway was so hot and smelly the coffee was so bad … I’m so disappointed it’s not like it was super cheap either !!!

The Microtel needs a lot of work, very run down. I would not stay here again. I felt it was dirty.

This may have been one of the worse hotel experiences I have had in a while. To start, the elevator did not work. I took that as not a big deal because we were on the 2nd floor. Next, the stairwell was sweltering hot between floors with no circulation. Next, the sink was so small that you could barely fit toiletries on it, and the knob to the sink kept breaking off. Most dangerously, the glass door for the shower came completely off the rollers. Luckily it fell into the shower and no one was hurt. The final straw happened when I asked for more towels and wash clothes, only to be informed that they were out and did not have any more clean ones. For the price, what could I expect, but this os RIDICULOUS!

I couldn’t stay there the elevator was broken. The room was on the second floor. I physically couldn’t do the stairs. I couldn’t get my money back.

Super nice clean beautiful shower bathroom if I could have kept staying I would have a little bit more expensive but still decent

I will never return to this hotel, no elevator and the stairwell smelled like urine, the bathroom smelled like urine, there was no soap, I asked for clean towels and was refused. The hotel has an odor, the refrigerator also had an odor. I will not return, ever.

Great staff, my check in was less than 5 minutes, room was nice and clean, breakfast was great. Parking lot was well lighted at night. Mall and restaurants was in walking distance from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel when traveling to Newport News, Virginia. I give this hotel 100% during my stay. HCN1

Recommend avoiding this place if possible. I was looking for a cheap place to stay in Newport News, not overly concerned with quality because I expected to be away from the room most of the time - it was a poor decision. Summary of lowlights: Keycards refused to stay magnetized (have never had this issue anywhere else ever, and here I literally had to go to the front desk each time I had to return to the room. Smoke detector has a bright green blinking light right above the bed. Side exit doorway area was leaking/flooded. Person in room above was auditioning for the musical “Stomp”. Vague weird smells. And last but not least, a large cockroach making its way across the floor my last night there. Only upsides were that staff was at least halfway nice and that the location is semi-convenient to a major commercial corridor in Newport News (though you will not find anything better than mediocre chain restaurants). While I hope to never have to stay in Newport News again, if I did I would not stay here unless there was no other option. Would go to Williamsburg or even Norfolk or VB and make the drive or Uber ride instead.

The elevator is not working and I was on the 3rd floor. The carpeting was worn and not very clean. The lobby and hallway were hot. Breakfast was small muffins, cereal and waffles. The steam is safe, across from an indoor mall. The bed was lumpy, but i have to admitted the sheets and towels looked brand new. For the price it's not bad for a night or 2.

Roaches.

Great area. Close to shopping, food and the interstate. Bed mattress needs to be replaced. Sunk in it like a sink hole.

It was idea for us as we spent one night.

Rooms were okay, bathroom was updated. Convenient location. I decided to go with this hotel because it was rated 8 out of 10. It is really a 5 out of 10 hotel. It is really run down and dingy. You can’t tell from the pictures on the website. There is a smell in the hallways as well. The room was okay, but definitely dated. I would not stay again.
