Stay Osaka Namba

The wifi is not really good. Especially in the common area. No place to store luggage. No kitchen. Very calm place. Not that much socializing.

The downstairs shared bathroom door must stay open. I wanted more privacy, so I just used the upstairs bathroom without a problem.

The staff were very nice and had good English. They cleaned daily so it was always very clean inside. Locations is great as it is just down a few blocks from one of the main markets. Lots of food and shops around. Unfortunately no elevator, just stairs, and you’ll need to go up a flight or two depending on the floor you’re staying on. There’s a decent amount of luggage space in the shared rooms. We were able to fit 2 checked bags and a carry on in a 6 bed room. They provide towels and slippers so you don’t have to purchase them. Restrooms and showers are very clean and there’s even nice shampoo, conditioner and body shampoos. Beds are a decent size but not the most comfortable. Curtains do a good enough job of keeping light out. Definitely need the AC turned on at night on warmer days. If not it can get uncomfortably hot. Door to outside has a number lock which is nice. Overall a really great hostel if you’re staying for a few nights.

10 min walking distance from Namba station. Everything was around. I didn't see the receptionists, only when I checked in.

The star of this hostel is its location. An easy walk to restaurants, shopping Dotonbori and train stations. Our room was big enough, shared bathroom on the same floor, there is a sink on top of the toilet so when you flush you can wash your hands and then water goes into the toilet. The hostel is clean enough, staff seem to be cleaning quite a bit. I would recommend it mostly for location but it was fine for 3 nights. I didn't like that there was no sink in the small kitchen, so you had to go fill up your water bottle in the bathroom sink...that was often full of long black hair. The mattress in our triple room wasn't really even a futon, your bones hit the floor through the mattress. Luckily we had a triple room for 2 of us so we could use the extra mat and duvet for extra padding but it was still very hard.

Near the tourist spots

It's a very quiet hostel. I suggest having potable water that doesn't come from the tap. For travelers reading this review, please note that there's no luggage storage, just a small, locked box in each dorm.

Very good

This place was relatively clean, super close to Dontonbori. It was relatively clean and quiet, felt pretty safe with codes to the doors for the front and each set of rooms. The staff were lovely and helpful the place was warm and had lots of recommendations for where to go. It was close to the supermarket so you could buy supplies and 3 minutes walk to a Lawsons. The wifi wasn’t great and was quite spotty and I couldn’t use it at all. The showers was small and had a little mold. The bed was rock hard, making it hard to sleep! It also didn’t have access to a locker not even an area to store valuables. Nor did it have a kitchen just a microwave and coffee machine so if you wanted to cook you couldn’t. Note they can’t help it but there are a set of steep stairs up to the levels, bunks being up another set of stairs and the privates further up. So keep that in mind if you have luggage!

Very good location for a low price The mattress was extremely thin, which made the bed very uncomfortable and also there were only 2 showers for men in the top floor, meaning having to wait to take a shower. I wouldn't stay for more than one night.

Picked this stay as it is cheap, and we didn't expect much because it is fair for the location. Noting that there's no lift, and there's no luggage storage. The room was a bit dusty, when we checked in, I myself gave it a bit of clean as I didn't want any hassle. But the room kept getting dusty again. The exhaust fan itself is covered with dust. Air-con only worked 30mins, then off for the night. Our next hotel has the exact same air-con, same manual and clearly the air-con at Stay Namba didn't functioning properly. The owner will always come back to you with "we follow the procedure", "we checked and everything works" like other reviews, so don't bother contacting them. Bathrooms are also dirty. I wouldn't stay again. We left early because I got a terrible itching reaction and couldn't sleep at night.

Excellent location. Very clean, new and attractive. Quiet. Good showers. Futons were thin and uncomfortable.
