Hotel Borsalino

Very kind personel, non intrusive staff and good explanations on everything The bathroom had quite a high step which made both me and my girlfriend hit our feet while going in.

We really enjoyed our stay during our short family vacation. The big family room was spacious, with large bathrooms and toilets. The beds were very comfortable, and the location was great close to everything we needed. Breakfast could have been better with a bit more variety, but it was acceptable considering the cost. One of the best features was the private parking, it felt much safer than parking on the street. Overall, a great experience. I definitely recommend this place to others looking to enjoy their stay here.

Most of the staff were very nice and friendly, except for one who wasn't so much... The location was a nice compromise, depending on the day we walked to the old town, or took the bus, or took the metro, all options worked very well. The private parking space was perfect, very convenient. Our room was on the basement level, and the bathroom stayed very damp throughout our stay. It seemed like the ventilation was pretty much non existent, the humidity from the shower's steam was still there even a full 24 hours after. And despite our best effort it was impossible to shower without splashing water on the floor. We hope for the next visitors that the hotel invests in a shower curtain and a proper ventilation system.

The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was perfect for exploring. The breakfast was good. The staff was nice and welcoming. The room faced the road, so you could hear cars passing by, but it wasn’t a problem for me.

The staff were amazing, very nice ladies at the reception and breakfast. They were helpful and pleasant. Location is good, there is a metro line nearby that gets you to the city center. Room was clean and cosy. There were no eggs for breakfast, other than that the breakfast was ok.

The bathroom doesn't have cabinets. The room doesn't have closet.

The parking was small and if you arrive late you miss it

The location is decent. It is a walking distance from the center, in the residental area with auchan and minipreço nearby. There is a huge public parking nearby. The hotel is located on the loud road. Parking entrance is extremely tight and not suitable for all cars, beware. Happily - there is a huge free public parking nearby. The sound isolation is pretty questionable. You can hear in your room what people on reception are speaking.

I did extensive research and was encouraged by all the positive reviews. Unfortunately my experience was not at all positive. The attitude of the owner when the card reader wouldn’t accept any of my credit cards - even though everywhere else in Portugal did. The room was downstairs and had no view and barely any natural light. It felt depressing and claustrophobic. The paint was peeling off the walls of the bathroom which smelled of mold. As a result we didn’t have showers. Nobody was at reception and so every time someone rang the doorbell it could be heard throughout the building. Not ideal when we were trying to get an early night ahead of the Camino. And then there was the breakfast. It was described as good on Booking.com . It was the worst of any hotel we’ve stayed at when walking the Camino.

There is sadly nothing to like about this place, I did not have a great experience from Grumpy receptionist, to the room underground in the cave with mold, no proper ventilation in the cave, filthy walls and everything. I was moved to a single room after arguing why I needed to be moved out of the cave room. The lady asked me why did I book there ? And if I had seen it was a 1 star hotel responded it’s not about the star but having a clean place to rest. The single room was worse the double room I had previously booked. Dirty bedsheets, dirty bathroom, long hair everywhere around the room, even my 4 year old son noticed that the room wasn’t cleaned.

the room and especially its bathroom were super small. there was no elevator and the breakfast was not provided like other hotels the size of room and bathroom and also the existence of elevator are not changeable. I think the best thing is changing its name to the hostel rather than hotel might work
