It was the perfect blend of experiencing San Francisco in a realistic way rather than it feeling like just a vacation. I’m a city type of guy so it gave me the hustle and bustle of living in the city with a mix of perfect spots to explore. My friend and I had a blast.

The property itself is ok, basic room and attached bathroom. The property is clean. The staff at the reception were extremely rude and patronizing. One of the worst check in experiences I’ve ever had.

The staff was so sweet! They held our luggage and even let us check in early. Everything was clean and the location was perfect. Only downfall is there’s no designated parking if you have a car!

The property was clean and the staff was helpful. It is close to a bus stop. There are bars and restaurants close to the hotel.

Good hotel, squarely between nob hill and the tenderloin. The keypad on one of our rooms was a bit finicky, which we didn't enjoy, but otherwise the rooms were clean and well maintained. Due to its location it's a bit loud at night, which wasn't an issue for my husband and I, but bothered my mom, who's less comfortable in cities. There was a security guard at night, and the hotel felt very safe to us. No parking, but easy walk to several BART stops and stations, which is inexpensive and efficient. You can walk to the wharf if you're in fair to middling shape, almost entirely downhill.

The found Hotel Carlton is my go to place whenever I’m in the city. Great location, convenient to frequent bus lines, a block from excellent food, and not too far from the city center, but far enough to be in a district that’s actually interesting. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms are modern. Overall great value for money.
