The location was great. Near to Paddington station (walking distance) which integrates lots of destination The heater was not turned on even though the weather is cold. It is centralized.

We were greeted with a warm welcome, as the gentleman recognised us from previous stays. Location was perfect for our arrival by train and subsequent onward journey to Heathrow the next morning. Close to many restaurants.

Old dirty carpet. Tiny bathroom.

Location was amazing! Just a few minutes from Paddington Station and bus stops, it was perfect to come and go from the hotel to the city/attractions. It could have been cleaner. The carpet floor was horrible, the curtains were very dirty and the comforter on the bed felt dirty as well. The sheets were clean, but with the rest, I felt as if I was sleeping on a dirty bed. There was a ventilator, that I wish I could use, because I am always very warm at night, but it was so full of dust, that when I tried to turn it on, there was dust flying everywhere, so I had to turn back off. The high ceiling had a few spider webs as well. The only clean thing was the toilet/bathroom.

The location of the hotel is very convenient, close to Hyde Park and Paddington Station. Sussex Gardens is a scenic, tree-lined street. The conditions in our room were not sanitary. The carpet was filthy, there was an acrid odor coming from the carpet and shower curtain, and, worst of all, it became obvious that the bedding had not been changed between guests. Here is the absurd situation that we experienced: After our first day in London, we got back to the room after midnight. My husband noticed then that the bedding was stained, but we thought that it just had some old, set-in stains and didn't suspect that it hadn't been cleaned between guests. However, in daylight the next morning, we were horrified to see that there was a recent bloodstain in the bed, which did not come from either of us (see photo). Disgusting. We informed the person working at the desk and asked to have the sheets changed while we were out during the day. Unexpectedly, the staff member was extremely resistant. He started questioning us about why we didn't say something the night before, and saying that he thought we were the ones to leave the bloodstain. It was ridiculous. We just wanted to get on with the day, so we asked him again to please just change the sheets and he finally agreed. BUT when we got back late again that night, the same dirty bedding was still on the bed!!! We had to ask the same member of staff for new bedding again. Back in the room, he starts arguing with us again about how we must be lying about having stained the sheets. When he finally started changing the sheets, we saw that the same bloodstain was on the mattress protector, which made it clear that the bedding had not been changed between guests. Having to fight with hotel staff in the middle of the night just to get a clean bed is unacceptable, even if you do take on the risk of staying at a 2-star hotel in London. The staff was so argumentative, I won't be surprised at all if they write a combative, gaslighting response to this review.

Location perfect for couple of nights stopover to visit friends around London.Excellent public transport links, shops and cafes etc on doorstep. Room adequately equipped with rea and coffee, hairdryer, fan, heater etc and staff helpful. . Single bunk room felt more like a very small caravan compartment as bed and wc/shower wedged into small space. But fine for a short stay only with just a backpack. Lots of stairs.

Have to walk stairs up carrying luggage. Building very old. No AC

Location near to Paddington Station and Hyde Park is excellent. Staff was welcoming and helpful. My only advice is to pay close attention to the size of the room you are booking. It shows as square feet in Booking.com and the rooms can be extremely small if you are not careful. If you are a party of 3, look for a room that will accommodate 4 because that may be more suitable. Also, ask to be in a room away from the traffic on Sussex Gardens which can be quite noisy.

Nice front desk help and I appreciated the luggage hold. En-suite helpful and clean. The box spring had a gross stain that I noticed when I did a bed bug check. No bed bugs and The mattress was clean

The location is great. I was put in a room on the 4th floor - no lift - narrow old stairs, with the final set of (I can't really describe them as stairs) death trap shelves being particularly awkward to navigate with a suitcase.. The room can only be described as decrepit and something that a Victorian maid would have slept in. In fact, I think she left her wardrobe behind. I don't like approaching hotel management and will avoid it where possible but I bumped into the receptionist on the stirs and when he asked me how my room was I said it was awful and definitely not worth the price I paid. He appeared surprised, perhaps he hadn't been in the room himself since the Victorian maid checked out. He said if I spent one night there he would move me the next day to a 'fancy' room. He did move me the next day and the fancy room at least had furniture from the 21st century. It was pretty similar in size and layout though - but with a balcony - woooooh!

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The room was surprisingly spacious give how small the hotel is. The ensuite was way too small. It did the job but it was TINY.

Poor water pressure.
